Zulkifle received an RSA John Kinross Scholarship in 2023 and spent 9 weeks in Florence. She was inspired by the recycling of old textiles, creating a scene in which distinctive architectural features of Florence can be identified, peopled by figures taken from works of art that she encountered.

This was Harrison’s first serious attempt at working in ceramic, overcoming a fear of failure she began exploring the fallibility of the body.
The piece is titled Jasperware vase and cover with Pegasus finial and with reliefs of Apollo and the Muses, made at the factory of Josiah Wedgwood, Etruria, Staffordshire, ca. 1790. It's part of a larger body of work collectively titled ‘Untitled (things)’.

Our pick is The Evergreen: A Northern Seasonal, The Book of Autumn. This influential journal was published by Sir Patrick Geddes HRSA and includes a number of illustrations by Academicians.
Once listed as being by an artist unknown, this painting’s true creator was uncovered in 2018 by our Documentation Officer. Research revealed it entered the collection around 1910 and matched a work recorded in our Council Minutes, a donation by J. Collins Francis of a painting by Joseph Ebsworth.
