A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads:
Using Generative AI?
You’re prompting with Hitler!
GenAI is a Fascist Project!
Try using your brain instead
Don’t surrender your creativity to the tech billionaire’s control

Rebecca Copeland | Wicked Problems and Unoriginal Sin - Podcast Episode - BioLogos Rebecca Copeland explores how ideas of sin fall short for today’s wicked problems and how a new vision of repentance can help us live faithfully in a tangled, unjust world.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of talking with Jim Stump at Biologos about my newest book, the wicked problems we face today, and the need for those of us who want a better world to start taking responsibility for the future we can build together. biologos.org/podcast-epis...

Like 1000s of others, I saw the clip of @davidjoy.bsky.social addressing the County Commissioners, and sent it to friends saying, “This is my people that I love.” I grew up on the other side of his mountains, in TN, and for 9 years I’ve been trying to reconcile the feelings...(1/3)

If you're interested in how people interpret the Bible, check out Reading Scripture in Wesleyan Ways, a collection of essays by fine scholars bringing different perspectives, questions, and methods. As Dean Bridgeman says, It's a must read for Christians & non-Christians, scholars, pastors & laity.

An image of the edited volume titled Reading Scripture in Wesleyan Ways with Valerie Bridgeman’s endorsement:

"Reading Scripture in Wesleyan Ways is a must read and a must have, not only for scholars and preachers of the Wesleyan tradition, but also laity and people within ecumenical Christianity and yes, non-Christians. I hope every seminary, no matter its affiliations, will make it required reading. I am sure that no reader will agree with every essay, and that there will be other essays that will be read over and over. But for historical, hermeneutical, theological, and pastoral reasons, everyone owes it to themselves to engage this volume. It is readable and well-researched. Each writer is honest about their positions, their starting points, and their commitments. What a gift!”

Very humbled and excited to share this endorsement from Valerie Bridgeman for our forthcoming edited volume on Wesleyan Biblical Interpretation. Thank you, @valeriebridgeman1.bsky.social, for reading it so carefully.

How to change people's
perspectives about climate?
1) Bond over a shared value;
2) Connect that value to climate impact;
3) Inspire them to act together to protect what you value.

When clinical trials are only conducted on white men, white men are the only people we know how to treat.

Or when you learned that pulse oximeters were unreliable diagnostic tools for people with darker skin than for those with lighter skin, leading to disparities in treatment for equally ill patients during Covid? (3/)

Remember how you felt when you learned that heart attacks have different symptoms for women, that doctors were trained to recognized men's symptoms, and that women are frequently discharged without treatment when they have heart attacks? (2/)

The FDA pulls key DEI initiative for cancer studies from its website A Food and Drug Administration project to promote diversity in clinical studies of cancer treatments was removed from the agency's website, as the Trump administration halts DEI initiatives.

This is about testing cancer treatment efficacy & side effects-not hiring. Clinical trials historically failed to account for human diversity. We were starting to see some progress. This administration is going to make sure that we only know how to treat white men.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
