lots of alpha in having hand-written, artisanal blog posts out there so that when you don't want to write something you can point an LLM at it and say: "sound like me"

nice. i hear they put lots of little parts of computers in those racks so you should feel right at home :)
the dice i had made for the Safety-Critical Rust Consortium were a fun time to hand out at @rustnationuk.bsky.social
but -- not everybody was able to get one, so! i went and added a 3D render of it that can be rolled onto my blog :)
glad to hear from you :) seems you're doing well enough to be this excitable on the internet
it's important to not be bullshitting when you do this; people can smell it from a mile away
i credit learning this to a couple of really solid engineering managers i had in my career that showcased how to do this while keeping good vibes
they understood that "hey we're all just here trying to get stuff done, let's keep it positive"
good project folks will take this and run with it to drive questions to closure to enable you
good project folks will realistically look at your availability and consider if they will take "part of" the work done or ask someone else
remember -- it's okay as a software engineer to constructively and positively share your:
- questions related to the project ask after having looked into it
- availability openly and honestly in supporting an out-of-band ask
hrm, wonder why the "user" would not like that?
> - User is extremely sensitive to:
> - gaslighting / claiming plan updates were done when they were not
the 6 y/o I think could keep up pretty, well, but she also bailed after a bit for Transformers. the 9 y/o and I played another 2 player game afterwards. definitely agree with @boardgamegeek.com that 7+ seems best, lots of moving pieces!
this slotted nicely into my brain as i'm a fan of deck building games
seeing the "shape" take hold of a deck/engine/system over the course of a game really hits the spot for me
anyhow -- Comic Creator is: "an engine-building dice game about the difficulties of being a manga creator" as described on @boardgamegeek.com:
boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/27...
picked this up on a whim when we went as a family to Japan last summer and we visited Yellow Submarine. combined a bit of work and play while there and visited Woven by Toyota for about a week too
game "Comic Creator" box
setup at the end of the game
played Comic Creator with my 9 y/o, 6 y/o, and 4 y/o yesterday. 4y/o bailed for Transformers about half-way through
oh and -- education should be free at the point of consumption. america is slowly sliding into hell with generation after generation of adults getting saddled with this debt!
shout out to my good buddy Patricia LeVasseur that makes sure I get:
- her student loan notifications
- her credit card notifications
pretty sure i saw some other stuff come through previous, but must've deleted those already
yes -- i was given a media package
yes -- i did go ahead and hollow it out and go out of my way to include our little Ferris for the Safety-Critical Rust Coding Guidelines :)
announcement image reading: I am speaking at #ACC US 2026 with a picture of Pete LeVasseur and his name and Woven by Toyota.
hey -- anybody coming out to Automotive Computing Conference US in Detroit on March 24th, 25th?
i'll be there chatting about "why Rust in safety-critical systems" in back-to-back sessions with @skade.bsky.social of @ferroussystems.bsky.social
come say hi! let's chat about blockers
check out the playlist of other interviews we've conducted so far:

shout out to @tylermandry.bsky.social for performing the interview and in such a scenic spot!
splash screen of interview of Daniel Almeida on work in writing a Linux GPU kernel driver in Rust
wanna hear about what writing a Linux GPU kernel driver is like?
how about what it's like _in Rust_?
check out the interview of Daniel Almeida!

in two weeks at the next Rust SIG i'll go through the blog post i wrote as a member of the Rust Vision doc team on: "What does it take to ship Rust in safety-critical?"
- and some things were left on the cutting room floor when writing it!

if you weren't able to make it this time to the @sdv.eclipse.org 's Rust Special Interest Group, feel free to check out the meeting notes below:

thanks to Daniel Silverstone of @codethink.co.uk for coming out to share C <=> Rust gaps when it comes to high-assurance and safety-critical at the @sdv.eclipse.org Rust Special Interest Group
> me, sleeping 8 hours, even interrupted here and there
wtf, sleeping helps?
i was always an early riser, had given up on being an early sleeper
maybe gotta revisit that D:
Do I know anyone who's worked with LittleFS for embedded devices? I'm writing some Rust tooling for building and deploying it and would appreciate hearing about how others have used it!
