In honor of Zakir Hussain's 75th birth anniversary, Ancient Future released a tribute. Everyone on it has worked with him. It was a huge loss when he passed away. I'm surprised by the lack of coverage. I'm happy for Bad Bunny , but I wish there was support for true mastery.

I'm not a sports fan, but I tuned into the Bad Bunny half time show. I'm also not a fan of huge productions and would rather see great musicians play their instruments and great singers sing. But Bad Bunny's performance was beautiful and it made me cry. I turned my TV off as soon he was finished!

Decades ago Ancient Future performed several concerts sponsored by the City of Eugene. Then budgets were cut. Glad to see the concerts are still happening. Maybe the budget will support touring solo artists, but not full ensembles?

A raga could be described as melodic recipe for a mood in Indian classical music. Tarantas has similarities to alap, the section of a raga where the mood is thoroughly explored without tempo before the tabla enters.
Tarantas Alap weaves both together.

The flamenco palo (form) tarantas includes dissonances resulting from the guitar's first three open strings in combination with the F# Phrygian mode. Tarantas is toque libre, a free form expression that lacks compás (rhythmic cycle), so it could be characterized as rubato.

A tree endangering on my car was scheduled for some trimming 9/22/25. When I went out, large branches of the tree were gone and heard the rapture predictions on the news!
So the rapture is real for true believing bushes, tree branches, and workmen who would rather be in heaven than in their boots!
First #Rapture Ancient Future was on West Coast Live along with Bruce Cockburn 5/21/11. Sedge Thomson jested about the coming doom. We played "End of the Beginning" as a nod. But when I returned home several bushes were gone, and there was an empty pair of work boots at the bottom of the stairs!
