If you are interested in social work history, licensure policy, antiracist practice, or the politics of professionalization, this will be an important discussion. I hope you will join us and share with colleagues and students.
This timely session examines the rise of standardized licensure exams in social work during the 1970s and early 80s. Drawing on archival research and mid to late 20th century pubs, Kimberly Sims, PhD, LICSW, and I explore the push for and resistance to licensure exams as a requirement for practice.

After 14 years, it is time for the General Assembly to take meaningful steps to address the harms of charging youth as adults. The current system is wasteful, and it doesn't give young people or our communities the outcomes they deserve. Pass SB323/HB409!!
Huh?
There are two ways we recommend taking action today in response to the murder of Renee Nicole Good:
Join us at Sherman Circle at 5:30pm for a community vigil!
Then at 8pm, there will be a nationwide virtual rapid response call focused on next steps & action!

Yesterday was incredible β and today, we keep organizing.
Tomorrow we're headed to the Senate and will host a teach-in about juries with @harrietsdreams.bsky.social. Tuesday, college students walk out. Later this week get trained on non-cooperation, and more. Details at FreeDCproject.org/events.
Thatβs pretty much my policy as well. Spirit of the law
Why is it the first time?
Great work from social work scholars at Columbia U. Yet another example of the wicked classism and perverse cruelty that defines the GOP's and, of course, has deep roots in U.S. policy. #socialwork

How would you describe yourself?
I heard back about one last week, but havenβt heard anything about the second
I would argue that he likes and wants to preserve or bring back many of its traditions.
Please highlight this story.
ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

The Dems problem is not βwokenessβ or that they are too left. The problem is they chase public opinion rather than shaping it, implying they donβt belive in anything.
Dems that donβt do this (AOC, Bernie, and Warren) are popular.
And this is why Bookerβs speech was so movingβit seemed genuine.
Anyway, a good brief background article on Ozturk's situation. Read the op ed, linked within. Build & leverage support for basic civil rights & resist thesr fascist politics. Challenge the disinfo & propaganda that still defines what is "acceptable" discourse on the war.

Often?
Why not both?
Nicole and Letty need $10,000 more to reach their goal! If we can get 400 people to donate $25 we will have helped them be able to rebuild!
They lost their house, a car, and all of their possessions. Letβs help them out!
Damn. That took guts. I was trying to keep it light.

DO NOT COMPLY IN ADVANCE.
These things will be challenged and we will have time to find work arounds, new plans and build networks.
That was easy. Next question.
You are all great scholars, social workers, advocates, and leaders. Well deserved.
