My latest video chronicling our recent lake effect #snow chase in and around Copenhagen, NY. Video is narrated, and I added radar animations, maps, and a little bit of info on how these events come together.

Dave and I are live streaming the major lake effect snowstorm in and around Watertown today. Live at www.youtube.com/live/F-Xmgzm...
Heavy snow about to enter the NYC Metro from the West & SW. Live stream from Queens up @ www.youtube.com/live/freGWuR...
The snow has begun to stick here in New York City. This could be the biggest Winter Storm in 3 years for us. Granted with the lack of snow the last few years that may not be saying much. Up to 6 inches forecast for the Metro. Queens, NY Live Cam @ www.youtube.com/live/freGWuR...
We got just enough snow here in Queens this Christmas Eve for the neighborhood kids to go sleigh riding up at Juniper Valley Park.
Getting another dusting to a half inch of snow on Christmas Eve here in Queens, NY. Radar Trends show the snow will be winding down shortly however, but at least we will officially have a white Christmas!
The general consensus on the short range models are for about a half inch of snow for the NYC area tomorrow morning. I wouldn't mind at all a nice dusting of snow on Christmas Eve.
Hence why I never post day 14 one-off model runs lol. And specially when no other models are agreeing with it. It usually evaporates on the next run. However, I'm optimistic that we will actually see some good snow storms this winter! We shall see.
Beautiful scenes driving through Eastern PA today after the first snowfall of the season!
First snow of the season here in NYC. We could see some light accumulations late tonight and tomorrow morning after the arctic front moves through. Perhaps a trace to an inch in spots. Then the Arctic blast moves in for the weekend!
Out in LA visiting friends and spend some time along the Pacific Coast Highway at golden hour yesterday evening! Amazing views! #pch
A cold pattern is setting up for at least the early part of December here in NYC. Hoping for some scenes like these this winter! Taken a day after our huge day after Christmas #Blizzard in 2010!
#weatherpicofday Video still of an intense cloud to ground lightning strike taken at Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village, NY on July 18th, 2012. #nywx

"Night Twisters"
Various photos of nighttime tornadoes from 2003 to 2024 illuminated by lightning, power flashes, or just street lights.
My 1st tornado was after dark in October of 2000.

#Winter is almost upon us, but the last 2 have been pretty void of significant snow here in NYC. I miss scenes like this! Taken during a mega lake effect #snow event back in January 2015 in Pulaski & Adams, NY
And VERY much needed!

This thick smell of wildfire smoke from multiple fires ongoing in both NY and New Jersey is back in Queens, NY this afternoon. You can even see it in the air today.
Thank you Jessica! :) You'd think 'Kansas' on this photo, not Queens NY!
From Summer 2009 right out in front of my place here in Queens, NY! Still to this day the best #Mammatus display I've witnessed here in NYC. Taken right at sunset. Note the plane flying underneath the base. Imagine the view they had!
Up here at Dave Lewison's place to reinstall the heated wiper blades on my Xterra for any and all winter weather chases! These blades heat up to over 200ยฐ when activated so ice and snow does not stick to them. We have a toggle switch installed that we can flip on and off.
So many wildfires in and around the NYC Metro the last few days it was only a matter of time before the smoke came over us. The air in Queens, NY today is damn near choking. Reminds me of the Canadian wildfires of June 2023
#weatherpicofday What an amazing storm this was. Taken near La Grange, WY on June 5th, 2009. Dave Lewison and I were just coming out for our annual chase trip and didn't make it in time to see the tornado that touched about 45 min prior. But a great way regardless to begin our 2009 chase trip.
#Rafael looking formidable as it approaches western Cuba. Now forecast to make landfall as a major hurricane.
Happy Halloween everyone! Going through some of my storm photos today and came across this one from May 27, 2015 near Canadian, TX. This #tornado barely moved and gave us quite the view for a good 20min. #supercell
Nothing quite like a 90+ mile diameter clear 'eye' of a borderline CAT4/5 Tropical Cyclone!
#SuperTyphoon KongRen
And it's done quite well over the years keeping the headlights intact!
My new custom plates have arrived! I'll be throwing these on my 2013 Xterra this afternoon.
To this day, some of the best storm structure that I have seen personally. From May 26th, 2013 in Nebraska. This LP put on quite the lightning show for us around sundown! #supercell #weatherpicofday
