Thanks! It's actually a chaos space marine but you're right about the vibe: the number of times I have painted a belt/necklace of severed heads skews like 90% in favor of being ogres/ogre-adjacent fantasy monsters haha

You know, I haven't gotten into the Chris Wraight books yet, but you're the second person to recommend that particular one: I'm going to push it to the front of the queue. I really enjoyed Daravek in Dembski-Bowden's Abaddon book, so I'm ...open to grandfathers gifts haha

Haha I think if anything they're just trying to sell ALL of us more contrast paint and washes: even with a double zero, there is no human way to get into the nooks and crannies of the faces these days
