you can also play with the basemap, depending on the weather layer you wanna show, some basemap styles are better than others (and you can make your own or tune an existing one)

The fun stuff with the Weather lib is that you can play with layers, for instance showing it underneath a partially transparent water layer. There are also plenty of built-in color ramps github.com/maptiler/map...
