Three tiny posies: purple violas in a blue glass bottle; tiny pink tulips and pink/white alliums in a cream ceramic bottle; blue periwinkles in a green glass bottle.
Thank you for the inspiration @silverpebble2.bsky.social #TinyJoys
A tiny pale green glass ink bottle, a tiny blue glass bottle and a ceramic container once used for storing cream.
Today's literal #TinyJoys are these adorable antique shop purchases ready for making tiny posies, inspired by @silverpebble2.bsky.social
I think this is a fine example of your subconscious having done excellent work in recognising when you went shopping that you need and deserve that egg!
I wonβt be there Iβm afraid - Iβm sure you will have a fabulous day! π
There are indeed pics but I will leave it up to Liz as to whether she wants to share them publicly!
More than #TinyJoys - massive joy today seeing my brilliant PhD student @lizwebb.bsky.social cross the stage for @openuniversity.bsky.social graduation - so lovely to be part of the ceremony. Huge congrats to all OU students graduating. You are fabulous and have so much to be proud of! ππ #OUFamily
Online Open day for Black and Asian students details: join members of academic staff, student support staff and students of the OU to find out more about what it is like to be a Black or Asian student. This event will focus on the subjects grouped under the heading βArts and Humanitiesβ (English, Music, Art History, Classical Studies) etc. You will be able to experience these subjects for yourselves as well as to hear more about how studying for a degree in these subjects might help take your career to the next level. At the OU, like many other universities in the UK, Black and Asian students are under-represented. We want to change that. The OU has always stood for education for all and many of our students study part time and in ways that fit into their busy lives. The event is completely free and all are welcome.
Friends! At the OU we are going to be running a series of online open days in the Arts and Humanities for Black and Asian students. Come along and find out how the Open University differs from other unis, and whether its accessible distance learning might suit you!ππ»
Tiny tulips with star-shaped flower heads growing at the base of a tree. The outer petals are creamy white and they have bright yellow middles.
'tis the season for very many garden-related #TinyJoys. Today it's the turn of these tiny tulips which opened overnight π·
Because I'm updating them today, I'd like to remind #AncientBluesky that we have *FREELY ACCESSIBLE* Ancient Greek resources at the Open University! πΊ
First, we have a 16 hour free OpenLearn course, which takes you from learning the alphabet to reading simple sentences: www.open.edu/openlearn/hi...
100% this, dear Liz.

Open University has the largest student body in the UK. Everyone comes with a story. Everyone has a curious mind. And I think it's important to celebrate lifelong learning in a world which treats people as commodities.
Team Open University is back on BBC tonight for the University Challenge quarter-finals. If you watch, remember the importance of widening access to education for all. We are playing for the carers, the prisoners, the disabled, the kids who had to work to support their family and everyone else β₯οΈ
Not organic but another vote for Kettlewell - great range of colours/shapes too. Disappointed by Earth Wardrobe tbh - sizing inconsistent, texture felt weird to me (but I am v sensitive to the feel of clothes), and didnβt wash all that well.
#TinyJoys managed a run during a rare window when it wasn't raining. The sky was gloriously clear and fresh AND I saw two muntjac while I was out.
Ha! Can't believe you remembered this π€£π€£π€£
Matt Damon stands dressed in a fantasy-style ancient Greek armour set, with a white and red painted wall in the background. White text is at the top and bottom giving the credits of a movie. The central title say The Odyssey but is written incorrectly in the Greek alphabet.
I saw a lot of people reposting this image, which looks like a poorly thought through advert for the new film version of the Odyssey. But, as has since become apparent, it was not an authentic film poster, so let's do a quick thread on how to check. 1/5
Ah yes, I can imagine the type of venue and therefore can now pretty much taste the kind of tea you have been subjected to...
I imagine they shut out of shame, having recognised their inability to make a decent brew? (I think you need to change your writing location, however. No matter that there might be books you need or whatevs, that's irrelevant if the tea is suboptimal π€£)
Sympathy my friend. I always maintain that a terrible cup of tea is actually worse than no cup of tea at all.
It is publication day for The Far Edges of the Known World! If you love ancient history, global history, unusual stories from the past, or if you want some nice historical escapism about life at the edges of the ancient world - pick up a copy today! #AncientBlueSky #BookSky #Skystorians
