A guy who looks vaguely like Andrey Tarkovsky, saying to an interviewer's microphone: "Poetic cinema".
last one:
Hobbes saying "QAAALAI isnt a word! it doesnt even have a U!" and Calvin replies, "it is SO a word! its a worm found in new guinea! everyone knows that!"
oops ive been forgetting the numbers but this is the second-last one:
The town from Pathologic. Superimposed are the words, "The Day Before, in which the Bachelor prepares to kick a whole town's worth of fucking ass."
microscope photo of an amoeba undergoing fission, but not fully separate. the heads of Andrey and Peter Stamatin are superimposed on the two blobby halves. A tiny head of Daniil is seen under enhanced magnification of the neck joining the two blobby halves.
A tombstone for Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz. The marble has been extended the same width again on the right hand side to fit the whole name in.

The One-Armed man (from Twin Peaks) saying backwards: "Is this the real life? Is it just fantasy?"

A box of Kellogg's RS-232 (DTR! RTS! CTS!)

Pete Martell (from Twin peaks) looks down at the plastic-wrapped body of Laura Palmer. A subtitle reads: "That's odd. The damage doesn't look as bad from out here."

Francis York Morgan (from Deadly Premonition) thinking "Cthulhu Fhtaghn... in the coffee!"
thread of memes from my desktop. 10 points if you can correctly guess what i made each one for. 100 points if you have a really funny wrong explanation.

Interesting to see that a review with 32 experts published in British Journal of Psychiatry last week found no evidence that ADHD is being overdiagnosed

Yesterday the NHS banned all under 18 prescriptions of HRT for trans young people.
This ban was justified by 10 new studies that largely stated NO EVIDENCE for under 18s HRT exists.
The study underpinning this played one particular trick.
Let's briefly look at how the NHS rigged the game 1/5

Here's my Gnosia essay. It's largely just a collation of thoughts I've written down elsewhere wrangled into one mass. It's a little bit me trying to talk about being human.

I am obsessed with the really strange soundtrack of Occult (2009). Like a ghost is trying to fax you through a casio mini keyboard and corrugated plastic tubes.
Text from the linked document 21 Power to make consequential amendments (1) The Lord Chancellor may by regulations make provision that is consequential on any provision made by this Act. (2) The power to make regulations under this section may, in particular, be exercised by amending or repealing provision made by an Act passed before, or in the same session of Parliament as, this Act (as well as provision made under such an Act). (3) A statutory instrument that contains (with or without other provisions) regulations under this section that amend or repeal any provision made by an Act may not be made unless a draft of the instrument has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament. (4) A statutory instrument containing any other regulations under this section is subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.
The Lords are, and the Commons should be, particularly exercised by clauses which enable ministers to change this and potentially many other pieces of legislation after it's passed.

Starmer will give the Commons little time to scrutinise the bill; the Lords will put the brakes on. In the meantime, what will happen to the overloaded judicial system?

INTERSTELLAR WILD (Anagrams)
We speak of the interstellar wild
like we aren’t part of it. She dwells
in we who still sparkle—a fettered,
skeletal star. We flow in her tepid
earth, like weeds, patterns of will
personified. We talk, shatter well—
written like Death’s pale flowers.
so neither Ultima Underworld nor any of the first three Thief games are immersive sims, got it.
Hand-painted BG depicting a down angle of a retro skyscraper topped with elaborate signage. Shinji painted this very early on, one of his first fully realized BG paintings. The painting was never used, though the same building appears early in the film.
Shinji Kimura's great "Talkie Building," one of our first fully realized BG. Though the same building appears in the movie, the painting was never actually used as a BG.
Hand-painted, of course — Nicker Poster Colors on art paper.
