Key is this is a drama, not a documentary. With time, characters and narrative arcs- compression is a given. Just have to know which battles and options are worth fighting over.

I’m thrilled to have been a part of #TheGrayHouse.
It all wrapped last week for final marketing pushes. I served as moderator for a few screenings/talk backs with a producer, writer and/ or lead actors at each venue. My nervousness ebbed as audiences reacted positively to the episodes shared….
From script reviews over multiple drafts (they stories I could tell!), collections tours for set and costume designers, museum and site visits to share Civil War Richmond, prop details, and on-set consulting in Bucharest. What a ride!
Sometimes a production may need help with living history elements (field work, etiquette, hearth cooking, etc) or material culture with set dressers. Sometimes they ask me to do crash course with lead actors on an era (my preference is Colonial through Reconstruction eras). But GH was different…
It started with a call in June 2022 from Leslie who said I was recommended by folks at The History Channel. After a few more calls, he asked me to be involved throughout- which was a 1st. Usually, producers call when they are in preproduction or one set and need a final script review….
Of the 4 TV/film projects I’ve done, #TheGrayHouse is by far the most comprehensive consultation. With a team led by executive producers Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary and writer/EP Leslie Grief- they listened to me. I listened to them and what they needed….
For the past 4 years, I’ve worked on as the historical consultant for THE GRAY HOUSE, an amazing miniseries airing on Prime. I’ve been fairly quiet about this project and my role due to NDAs. Now, I can talk about my level of involvement with writers, producers, crew, and actors…1/

History doesn't remember. *People* remember.
Reconstruction ended ~150 years ago. For most of that time, Americans have misunderstood, misremembered, & willfully misrepresented it - despite a vast historical record to the contrary.
So sorry for your loss made more stressful but travel woes.
I know I haven’t been giving you all much. I’m not posting about museums, history, current affairs and randomness… truth is I’m just so tired. A heap of personal shyt in the past 4 months has sapped me. I need deep rest while trying to take care of me and my loved ones.
