One reason I know he's lying is because there's plenty of groceries which every household needs that aren't purchasable with a SNAP card,
including toilet paper, diapers, dish soap, bath soap, and more.
Poor people know how money works at the grocery store better than ANYONE else.

as gas prices soar bc of foreign policy chaos,
now is probably a great time to discuss how investing in mass transit infrastructure is an effective economic hedging strategy for metropolitan regions.

Folks are pointing out that recent NYT on Mamdani article uses framing to disguise bias and bad journalism.
Black folks are not surprised.

Unfortunately, a whole new section of society is going to find out what actually fuels the prison industrial complex --criminalizing hardship and profiling marginalized identities who tend to experience those hardships.
Here, it's women of reproductive age who are going to be under the microscope.

Even though I'm an economist, I wish there was more focus on the human suffering from this war and less focus on the economic consequences. Hundreds of little girls are dead, and we're worried about oil prices.

'Ridiculous': Kristi Noem's 28-year-old aide wasted millions on unusable ICE vehicles
A former deputy to outgoing Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem saddled the department with millions of dollars in wasted funding for vehicles that cannot be used.U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcem...
A Noem aide spent $3 million on pickup trucks emblazoned with the ICE name & logo, which ICE agents -- notoriously averse to advertising their presence -- will not drive, so they're just sitting in a lot, useless. The contract went to a Trump donor who owns a regional Chevy dealership.

This thread is truth.
Also, the nerve of someone even claiming it happened only one generation ago.
As if GenX wasn't infamous for being latchkey kids bc when they got home from school their (Boomer and older generation) parents were still at WORK.

Reconciling this story of petty theft for thrills by the affluent against memory of Kalief Browder, a Bronx youth held in Rikers w/o trial for nearly 3 yrs for allegedly stealing a backpack. He was kept in solitary for 700 days of that time.
Two yrs after his release, Browder unalived himself.

Too many folks on the left mistakenly believed DEI was about Black people getting opportunities they didn’t deserve and therefore sat on your hands while this regime went about dismantling it.

The South ending Reconstruction and plunging their populations into a backward looking culture and economy until it was forced to modernize by the Civil Rights movement is imo a very clean parallel.

‘Nazi heaven’: Inside Miami campus Republicans’ racist group chat
The chat is the subject of a Florida International University police investigation.
The secretary of Miami-Dade County’s GOP started a group chat for conservative students — and within 3 weeks, it was filled with over 400 instances of the N-word, Nazi rhetoric and writings of "dozens of ways of violently killing Black people"

Noem's pathological behavior toward animals is revealing.
Imagine being proud of killing a puppy you could've donated to a family or surrendered to a shelter.
Or killing a goat, too, because it smelled bad and behaved like a goat.
Killing is how she treats beings that displease her.

Her stance is a continuation of his 1st term.
This is why Black people said we couldn't afford to sit home Nov /24.
So at what point do we retire the word "doomsayers" and use "analysts" instead?

Those delusions fuel capacity for mobilizing around so-called "color blind" econ policy agendas that may help a few ppl but mainly repeat past racial injustices.
Also, enables closeted white nationalists (i.e. Fetterman) to gain power on the backs of multi-racial working class coalitions.

This is the magic of the "boostrap myth" in which white people refuse to acknowledge the existence of the working poor, even their own.
That myth hides how generational wealth and econ polices historically restricted to white ppl protect many white WC from economic precarity faced by Black WC

The problem I have with certain progressives is they REFUSE to acknowledge the existence and needs of the Black working class.
They can then pedal economic anxiety as an excuse for the (white) working class supporting racists.
You'd think they learned better during COVID's early days, but no.

And that's just meat.
