Whoa, really? I totally will!
Also Grafenberg was imprisoned by the Nazis and then ransomed and rescued by Margaret Sanger (!), in what has got to be history's biggest birth control caper, but about which I can find no further details!!!
Just a little informal poll - did you know that the "G" in G-spot stands for... "Grafenberg"?
Ernst Grafenberg was okay, as far as those guys go, but like why did he get to name a body part
Anyway, happy belated International Women's Day
Thank YOU!!
Recent pick -- I really loved BEINGS by @ilanaslightly.bsky.social

I'm making a "New Book Bingo Card" to hand out to poor suffering friends & family to help them deal with me thru pub day π
Two squares might be: "25% off sale at B&N!" and "Pre-orders are SO IMPORTANT"
What would you put on the card?
Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1 The phrase βCall me Ishmaelβ, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen βHis nameβ
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got
keep seeing people talking about Hugo and Nebula nominations which means it is my professional duty to remind you that nominations for the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize open on SUNDAY

Never thought I'd spend so much of my time on this planet reassuring computers that I'm not a robot
Living under capitalism is like being forced to play a board game you dislike where the rules are boring, unfair and nonsensical but which the winners, who started with an advantage, keep explaining are excellent, and if you try improve the game youβre βcheatingβ but if you stop playing youβll die
Just finished On the Calculation of Volume, Book III by Solvej Balle and am rending clothes/gnashing teeth that Book IV doesn't come out until April.
Very excited to start Brother Bronte by Fernando A. Flores next!
Just close your eyes and think of Empire!
Update: first kid is wearing a Scream mask, both kids have signs, presumably meeting someone? Zero adults located
I don't know if it's just due to delirium from being at the airport for 4 hours, but it appears a young kid is helping another young kid put on a giant inflatable dragon costume with no adults in sight
Digging into the phenomenology of cheeseburgers is the sort of thing that keeps me coming back to the internet, despite everything
This remains one of my favorite reviews. Thank you!!
Cover of Remember You Will Die by Eden Robins
First up, a book I read all the way back in January, and which came out in 2024. I am so glad it made the LeGuin shortlist, because until that point, I was distressed how little I'd seen it being discussed for how /interesting/ it is. It is Remember You Will Die by Eden Robins.
π
Cover of "Remember You Will Die" by Eden Robins. Blurry background of a landscape image with the title in reversing typeface framing the forward version.
Remember You Will Die by @edenrobins.bsky.social is an alternate history sci-fi told entirely in obituaries. I can't remember when I've read something so original while also taking big formal risks. A triumph.
Eeeee thank you
Friggin loved this book
You were the one who told me about this! I'm reading now!
SO good
