Editing I was formerly an editor atΒ  Quirk Books Β (2021–2025), specializing in gift and lifestyle nonfiction as well as genre fiction, and the editor-in-chief of Electric Literature Β (2017–2021),...

If you’re considering asking an AI slop golem for help with your writing project, why not ask me, a real person who is good at this, instead?

This is just what I needed to see today.

E-bikes take cars off the road and that's really important. They also give people freedom, independence, and access to the world without a car.

But they're also fun as hell. And bikes *should* be fun!

yeah it's totally possible to walk and take transit here, which is why it sucks that so many people drive to get downtown, drive all the way down King Street, drive into buildings, walls, light poles, drive into train tunnels, and park their cars in the way of streetcar tracks on a regular basis

felt so strong and fast on my bike yesterday when I went out for a brief ride in the warm weather...thank you skating for giving me freakish terrifying Hulk legs πŸ₯°

sure, your top speed in a car is higher, but in an urban environment (even the downtown area of a small city or town) you never get up to top speed to begin with because you encounter too many intersections where you must stop

11.03.2026 13:20 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

not necessarily: depending on the number of stops at intersections, car traffic, etc. you can easily outbike someone in a car over a short distance like 3 miles

in Toronto, consistently the fastest way to get around is by bike because car congestion + the street grid downtown slows cars

I get almost as many comments about how ugly or fat I am on my workout posts as I did on my posts before I started lifting. I’m not asking for sympathy. I just want to remind Black women that the point isn’t if we are pretty or skinny or not. The point is they want us to not exist.πŸ™„

Coin used as Leeds bus fare was 2,000‑year‑old currency The coin was handed down to Peter Edwards from his grandfather in the 1950s.

This is the sort of thing a cashless society robs us of, the opportunity to try to get away with paying the bus fare in Carthaginian currency www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I don't want a world where women can run for president - and become the one who bombs children - without any sexism.

I want a world where institutions with a history of bombing children no longer exist. I want a world without imperialism, capitalism, and all systems of concentrated wealth,

The women who have run for US president have also been in favor of bombing kids to death and poisoning the planet.

The problem is the institution itself, not the gender of the person holding the position.

if you need to get out of the heat tomorrow please head into a car dealership. waste their time. go through a bunch of the process without filling out any paperwork. talk through a bunch of options. then just tell them that's an outrageous amount of money and leave. bonus if you do that at tesla.

I spun on one foot a bunch of times, but I'm still not very good at it, so at least it's weird and fun to do

I might've gotten to 3 or 4 rotations a few times, so I'm convinced that eventually it'll turn into something, or else I'll just be the greatest 3-to-4 rotation spinner in history

Denmark responded to 1973 oil crisis by reducing car-dependency. Let's do that now. - Streetsblog Chicago "The government had to introduce car-free Sundays. And then people realized that the car-free Sunday was the best day of the week."

β€œThe [Copenhagen] modal split in 1970 was about 10% biking. But then we got the oil crisis…So that was the changing point and now there’s more than a 30% bike modal split.”

We can change our cities. Because of the high price of gas, or just because it’s clearly the smart thing to do. #UrbanTruth

Will the US benefit from the oil crisis sparked by the war on Iran? Attacks on energy sites in the Gulf and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz give Western exporters a chance to profit.

the longer this war goes on, the more opportunity the US oil industry has to increase production and take advantage of the current situation - www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/...

Please help Ahmad's family survive Israel's genocide, which has left them starving & homeless in winter under renewed bombing. His mother needs urgent treatment for retinal disease. The crossings are closed again & they desperately need help:
