I'm creating a community for analytic metaphysicists to hang out and voice or text chat together! The server intends to serve as a space for academic philosophers to discuss metaphysics and collaborate regularly :D

This reminds me of how the favoured 80s term for a home computer - a "microcomputer" - came about because commercial computers were, comparatively, really small in terms of physical size and components compared to what until the early 70s was what a "computer" was - a big boxy room-filling thing
Anytime I see a news story about another smart device (that had perfect functionality without being made "smart") going haywire I always think to myself, it's like the Pierce Brosnan house from the Simpsons. You NEVER want the Pierce Brosnan house. ^ ^;
Welcome to Bluesky, new users! I'm Jon, Bluesky's third most famous squirrel trainer. I have trained over five squirrels. Everyone here knows me and I'm very cool

A planet of adventure - A DINOSAUR PLANET.
The attract screen from the prototype build of what was already evolving into Star Fox Adventures, though it was intended to be an original project until it caught the attention of Shigeru Miyamoto, who requested it become part of the Star Fox 'verse.
"A friend of mine told me try America Online."
Something I actually have only periphery memories of from the time, mostly from ads and seeing their CDs, as my access was direct to the web and not via curated portals like AOL.

Long COVID is here to stay, even in children, and worsened by reinfections and ongoing transmission. Governments and health systems must prioritise research, care access, and protection for kidsβotherwise, the long-term social and economic costs will keep rising.

Sure I'd love to be able to join the Facebook group, feel free to send me the link, no obligation to join my Discord ofc if you're busy or it's not your preferred way of discussing! Really looking for more people who are interested in building a community there since FB isn't so good for this stuff

So the site owner is an accelerationist cultist. Itβs not a surprise. But why do *all* these Silicon Valley types seem to have a similar lack of self-awareness, empathy, ethics and basic intelligence? And why do they think this is something to advertise?
βWhy donβt you just verify your ID? Just send them your passport/face scan/credit card, what could go wrong? Itβs perfectly safe youβre just paranoidβ etc etc etc
10/10 better plot-twist than code geass if this ends up being true. I guess the 'we can only win if we find the joe rogan of the left' thing was all a cover-up for the real plan

The Japanese Mario 64 official strategy guide is an incredible thing. "Can we make little hand-made dioramas of all the levels?" "Sure, why the hell not."

AIs are Astro Boy, Robby the Robot, Cmdr Data, the Ghost in the Shell Puppet Master, etc. I will not use the term for anything less.
Donβt feed the hype machine. Donβt call it AI.

this is bad lol takaichi is a member of the nippon kaigi, supports the revision of article 9, and much like her idol, Margaret Thatcher, has extremely regressive views of women's rights, among other things.
This Discord's brand new, and I don't have too many connections in the fields of anime studies or game studies (my own background being in academic philosophy) - but there doesn't seem to be a space like this out there online, and so I'd really like to help build that!
While this Discord aims to provide a place for undergraduates, graduates and academics in Anime/Manga/Games studies to discuss with each other, it's not exclusive to university students or academics and is open to anybody with an interest in reading or talking about this stuff on an academic level
If you're an anime/manga/gaming fan that likes; discussing your interpretations of new shows you've watched at essay-length, reading academic essays about 'em, deep-diving their history, or academic nerd discourse on this stuff in general, join my new Discord! #anibsky #anime discord.gg/yXbKqKYX
"I'm looking for that book, the one with Howl's Moving Castle on the cover!"
...not helpful.
because, your pick!
As a academic philosophy TA myself it can be really difficult to find spaces to discuss academic work, especially within anime-fandom circles these days! A lot of academia centres around in-person communication, so it can be really hard for people to find others online I think
@animemangastudies.com since you're really into promoting anime studies, would you be interested in joining a Discord I'm making cantered around Anime, Manga and Video Game academia? I'd love to make a space online for academics/students to discuss, or even do reading groups
