ANALYSIS: Badenoch and Farage might not want to admit it, but Conservative and Reform plans to scrap net zero whilst boosting the North Sea would actually make the UK even more reliant on gas imports π€

Had a pupil show my a cipher they had created at home yesterday. Invited them to create a wee challenge for the class and it was that good I ditched the maths and took them all outside to extend the learning - dreamland! #pupilvoice

A spirit watches over Dartmoor. His face is granite grey. His eyes are dark as peat pools. His name is Old Crockern. And today heβs at The Museum of English Rural Life.

The sooner this petition hits 100,000 signatures the sooner we can start becoming more prosperous and more secure. We are clinging to the coattails of Trump right now swinging in all directions; time to look a over the channel rather than over the sea to ICE.

Stephen Sedley's letter strongly reinforces the point of this column: if, as seems imminent, the hunger strikers die, the government bears responsibility.

A number of people on this platform have been claiming that it's not up to government to shorten people's time on remand, however far beyond the statutory limit that time extends.
Well, take it from a very eminent retired judge. It is.

This is beyond shocking - how can this be allowed to happen? Why on earth canβt they be released on bail? They have a right to a fair trial, appropriate medical treatment, & the removal of punitive Prison Service conditions. Govtβs ban on Palestine Action is simply intolerable
There is no instance in history of an authoritarian far-right leader taking over that did not end in disaster for those who voted for them
And, unfortunately, everyone else.
It's too late for Trump/MAGA voters to retract their votes
But it's not too late for Farage/Reform voters to retract theirs
A new river walk will be created along the River Mersey between Stockport and Manchester - the first of nine such paths promised by the government for locations nationwide.
The Government has announced the first of their βnine new river walksβ: a section of the River Mersey near Stockport. Yet whatβs being presented as a national breakthrough is, in reality, a set of long-overdue local council upgrades to existing riverside paths.
A skim through the details... π§΅

Since 2019, the NHS has spent more money on maternity negligence claims than the entire NHS maternity budget for same period.
Investment now in maternity services will reap rewards very quickly.
The Government does not need to wait for the Amos review to start making a change.

I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.
That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.

Tonight we're celebrating 10 years of Rewilding Britain (@rewildingbritain.org.uk). I don't think I've ever come across an organisation which has shifted both public attitudes and tangible outcomes on an issue so fast. I'm proud to be associated.

In 2025 in the UK, 4.5 million children are living in poverty, which is 31% of all children, a record high.
Itβs staggering that someone else in our society can go to bed, do absolutely nothing but sleep and be Β£35,000 richer in the morning - every single day.

Wild camping: we won the battle on Dartmoor, now what?
Listening to @lewis-winks.bsky.social, @maryannochota.bsky.social & Aila Taylor discussing extending the right to wild camp in England - at Kendal Mountain Festival, in (appropriately enough) a very big tent
I had to look this one up - the answer is so cool!
We're in Newcastle with PMUK's Ian Gregg - former chairman of Greggs.
Speaking in a personal capacity, he said: "We hope the Chancellor uses this Budget to raise taxes on the wealthiest people first - who can most afford it - instead of ordinary people who canβt."
Here's an important new call to action from Dartmoor Nature Alliance. Please read and share!
Tuning in now, good luck! β
