Maybe not trust crisis, but the scandalization of Norwegian politics has reached a new level. And as I say here, political trust isn't extremely important for any one thing in particular, but it plays a role in many things, like voter turnout, welfare systems, acceptance of foreigners, and more.
Massive interest in Norwegian political-institutional trust right now. Here is the overview @jonaslinde.bsky.social and I published recently on what we know, and don't know, about this topic.

Why do some want government spending without supporting the necessary taxation? Such a "something for nothing" mindset is often seen as an information or even sophistication problem. But we find it is equally due to rational interests among the economically vulnerable.

New paper out w/ @tomwgvdmeer.bsky.social & @hakhverdian.bsky.social in @epsrjournal.bsky.social. We show that political trust dynamics matter for electoral behavior. While stable and variable distrusters behave similarly, declining trust boosts both abstention and anti-establishment voting. π§΅
