The foundation of American fascism rests on three things: extreme bigotry, whining about other people's coffee orders, and saying "so much for global warming" whenever it's cold out

The βeliminate taxes on income under $75kβ thing is especially annoying because we already broke the seal on the equally gimmicky but way cooler and better policy of mailing everyone a check with a big round number on it.
They made the same error during the campaign! AIPAC has always understood that their attack ads should be about crime or the wedge issue of the day. But something about a Muslim running for mayor of NYC made it irresistible to try make the election a referendum on Israel. How'd that work out?
It's really fascinating how committed Mamdani's enemies are to hammering him on an issue that is 1) almost entirely symbolic (in terms of the job of Mayor), 2) very high salience for his base, who support him totally 3) very low salience for the bulk of the people they need to turn against him
9 people in front of a Starbucks store show off their union vote papers and celebrate.
FACT: Starbucks has spent unfathomable amounts on union-busting their own workers.
ANOTHER FACT: Baristas are cutting through the corporate BS and continuing to WIN!
Congratulations to workers at Colorado's 14th & Tomichi store - they just won their union!!! βπ₯
As someone recently diagnosed with adult ADHD I find it relatable and humanizing that Donald Trump forgot to fill up the strategic petroleum reserve before launching the illegal war of aggression against Iran
Uh-oh! Worst person you know learned therapy words

Democrats must speak to the center (free Palestine) and shake themselves free from the influence of The Groups (aipac)
I think it's actually pretty easy to not develop pathological disorders about any single group of people. Again I talk about Israel-Palestine every single day, read about it every single day, and am about to enter a job where I communicate about it every day, and I am pretty good at avoiding this.
i have so much anger inside me :) haha
In fewer than seven weeks since launching, we've now raised more than $400,000 from nearly 7,000 individual donors.
No real estate money. No lobbyists. Just people chipping in what they can to send a trade unionist to Congress.

If βmob justiceβ is the concern than the arrest and prosecution of Mandelson and Prince Andrew is a (tiny) step in the direction of the corrective.
Hard to take concerns about βmob justiceβ seriously from anyone who isnβt first and foremost concerned about the seemingly total legal impunity for depraved criminality by economic and political elites.
The elite concern about βmob justiceβ, (whether in response to Epstein or to Me Too) isnβt precisely wrong. We *should* have a process that protects victims and operates with due process protections. But we donβt. Itβs the failure to hold powerful people to account that produces the righteous mob.
Should I watch weeks or can I skip straight to years?
And I don't think there's anything revolutionary about pursuing a strategy that leaves the left small, weak, irrelevant, isolated, no matter how it is branded.
I think the fixation by Parker on what *AOC* should say is a tacit acknowledgement that the "agitational" model doesn't work. If it worked its proponents would just focus on candidates pursuing it. I think the way Bernie's (serious!) campaigns developed the left is another example of the same.
i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.
Which presidential campaigns in the last 50 years in the United States have been most successful at sparking working class organization and class consciousness? Was it ones on that model?
I was at a DSA meeting shortly after West announced where a MUG member said that an independent campaign by one of the most prominent socialist intellectuals in the country was sure to draw a mass base of millions. Has there been any analysis or reflection about why that failed to materialize?
Why not run Cornell West or Gloria La Riva again? Because βagitationalβ campaigns donβt actually build anything or resolve the contradictions of electoral politics-they are just abstentionism with extra steps. People care about what AOC says *because she could be a serious contender for president.*
Claire at a podium on the steps of City Hall surrounded by Teamsters and next to CM Tiffany Caban. There's a pile of Amazon boxes with sad faces on them in the foreground.
At City Hall today rallying with @teamsters.bsky.social for the Delivery Protection Act β holding last-mile delivery companies accountable and ending exploitative subcontracting that puts drivers at risk.
So grateful for @tiffanycaban.bsky.social's vision and leadership. Letβs get it done.
i like that discord is fucking up because i resent the network effect which forces me to have to use it
