This discussion is fundamentally about choice. You chose your pastimes and the means to enable them. Others should be given choices, not simply a 'blinkered' view of what seems available and achievable, primarily driven by those who stand to benefit from it.

I could fat bike all 19km from home to work on groomed winter trails if it weren't for the stretch between Westboro Beach and Deschênes Rapids. Not going to risk Woodroffe.
What's your point? There is a broad spectrum for "private education" and IMHO they are at widely different points along it. Why would you be so dismissive? It should be about how you apply your education not how you receive it.
So by your own admission ("tax increases have been below the average rate of inflation"), the buying power of the taxes collected has actually reduced? I wonder why things are deteriorating!!
That area is so grim. It could be something special but they need the mud for people who don't want to pay for the underground parking in their buildings (oh and construction workers).

Such a biased viewpoint. Imagine placing those "wait for gap in traffic" signs changed to read "wait for gap in pedestrians". There is another alternative that dare not be mentioned - have all vehicle lights on red to let pedestrians cross without danger, then restart traffic.

Pedestrianize Byward Market and Lansdowne*, (and add bus lane/s to Bank) and you have two major areas prioritizing people wandering and enjoying the city without worrying about being mown down.
