I just got back from a camping trip to find that Rick Davis has passed away. It was his voice, piano playing and funk and blues influences that made Supertramp one of my favorite 70s rock groups.

I once excitedly lent The Cyberiad to a friend who had studied philosophy and they returned it to me unread saying it wasn't for them. I think that was an early lesson in "everyone doesn't think like you".
The Cyberiad and Solaris were my favorite books as a teen. I think Lem was one of the reasons I went on to study human behavior. I learnt about the fallibility of humans and our poor systems thinking, societal constructs and destructive colonialism. He showed us protest through art. Proud weirdo!
