Inside Pope's Grotto Twickenham
Dating to 1720 this is the Grotto built by poet Alexander Pope beneath his Twickenham villa. He filled it with shells, crystals & mineral specimens.The villa was demolished but the Grotto remains within the grounds of a school & is available to visit on special open days. #secretlondon
