Today, informed people are watching the war in Iran & the trade issues its causing. Historians are talking about reliving the mid-1970s with oil shocks & stagflation, while it feels like most Americans haven't registered how bad it could get.
It feels like Spring 2020. Informed people saw the Covid virus coming. I warned students Japan had closed its schools & that this was possible in the US. We bought groceries for a possible lock down while the clerk looked at us like we were crazy. Then over spring break the whole world changed.

I find this style of writing detestable. Do not misunderstand—moralism is an art form, literally! We used to have people called “moralists” who wrote these things called “books.” Whatever the heck this is, I’m not sure. We need a moratorium on this liberal use of the second person.
