I am not a fan of the air raid sirens, but there is something about fog horns that really appeals to me.

Looks like there's a big bulk carrier out there, registered to Canada. I suspect it's the one using its horn.

It's been so foggy the past few days that ships on the lake have actually been using fog horns.

I love the sound of fog horns. Rarely hear them these days with the advent of gps tracking for boats.

Anyway, it's been a rough week for my kid. I wish I could do more to help her.

She messaged the (h)ex to ask if he could help with vet bills since I've paid her rent for the past three months and the last round of vet bills.

The motherfucker had the nerve to ask if she'd asked me. The same motherfucker who is not paying 50% of her uni bills as he is supposed to.

My youngest kid is struggling to find work, and hasn't had a job in three months. She and her boyfriend are currently on "a pause" while they assess whether they want to be together. Her 13-year-old cat with kidney disease and arthritis is currently struggling to walk, and it might be the end.

How I feel when someone blocks me.

Sometimes taking a drive with loud music playing fixes what ails you.

I'm going to go take the trash out - literally - rather than struggling to make myself clear in emails to people who should be more aware of the situation than I am.

I am exhausted with my apparent inability to communicate with people I work with. I have never struggled so hard to make myself understood and it's creating a whole lot of both frustration and imposter syndrome.

Fountain pen nibs are so easy to wreck - and they are so dependent on the angle you hold the pen as you write.

Butting in to say it's a felt-tip pen. They are great unless someone who smashes the writing tip into the paper like they are trying to do wood carving, and then the tip gets dull and scratchy and it sucks. So never lend your felt-tips out.

I'm very partial to a good roller ball or gel pen. It has everything to do with how smoothly they glide over the paper as you right.

However, bics are superior if you are doing something like writing notes on your hand, which, frankly, I haven't done for approximately 35 years.

I live my life by this philosophy.
