Vought's doing more than just illegally dismantling the CFPB from within: he's attacking funding for cancer research, illegally hiding the ways in which he's withholding funds, destabilizing the country's scientific research infrastructure, and eliminating aid to children domestically and worldwide.

This is unacceptable. Also, enraging that the CFPB is now warning consumers AGAINST filing a complaint with them until they've tried (and failed) with the credit bureaus. Difficult to see the CFPB have become so anti-consumer.

Congress asked the Gov't Accountability Office to review the effect of recent stop-work orders, workforce reductions, contract terminations, and other related actions on CFPB’s ability to fulfill its statutorily mandated functions. GAO released their report on the reorg efforts as of August 2025
The CFPB is still here and Acting Director Vought is still not allowing its employees to protect consumers.
