Speaking of those unfinished forever-projects haunting the back of my mind... Eventually I need to finish this hydrangea.. stuck at this very tedious place for months

#Blender screenshot of a cobblestone texture, with about 40% blank dirt and 60% tightly fitted stones #b3d #gameart #gamedev
Occasionally still tormenting myself with this cobblestone texture... Passed the halfway mark!
(only the orange square outline is my actual future material, the rest is projected live clones to test seamlessness)
Figured out how to make all texture and gradient nodes apply real-time seamless, too.
The thought experiment must have stayed with me because I created a whole series of drawings called βSomething from Nothingβ that exist in that liminal space between 2 and 3D.

Starting to have fun now, still quite a bit more to be added

If you sit still long enough they get pretty brave
Photo of this year's first peach bloom on my backyard tree.
Happy peach bloom day
I observe several 'first signs of spring' markers, as I sit out in the garden for hours daily...
Invent your own holidays, theyre more fun)
Just flipping thru a bunch of slider options... seems like a good place to stop for the night.
Is it fun to see the progress steps involved on these things?
#b3d #blender
Noise distortion added to my circle grid.. 3rd shape slider demonstrated (first two being scale and resolution)
Now to work on the procedural height map to turn this into a mountain.
DIY Circle Grid
Nice and clean
Circle Grid with 2 sliders (Scale and Resolution) - both demonstrated. Maintains clean quads.
I dont know why this isn't already a feature of blender, but I'll put a screenshot of the geometry node tree in the replies.
A peep at what I spent a silly number of hours struggling with today... (the scale/radius is also on a slider, but this is just the slider for resolution/subdiv on a circular grid)
I still need to tackle those line artifacts, but my brain is melting.

It's way more effective

I can't control much in life... but I can control geometry nodes.
I'm not unaffected by -gestures broadly- but I need to hold sanctuary space to survive it. Reminders of beauty, hope, creation - keeping embers alive during this shitstorm we're all in together.
Because eventually every storm ends.
Not dead, still doing art
Many hours of playing with stuff like this that no one sees....
(currently making a procedural mountain without addons)
Our weeping redbud tree is budding, the first violets have bloomed, iris shoots several inches above winter's dead growth..
It never ceases to be reassuring when spring does, in fact, come again. Tangible proof that a larger cycle grinds on despite us.
Every so often I check back into No Man's Sky.. currently doing the expedition.
Main thought: does this new car really not have headlights??
screenshot of a brick material being created in Blender #b3d #geometrynodes
Sneak peek at brick progress.. Started with following the lovely UV Grid tutorial series by @nodesandnoodles.bsky.social - then worked in some procedural displacement texture for stone variation.. Lots left to experiment with and resolve.

My dear friend is quite talented, and deserves more listeners.
(Dreamers will remember him as IansaneArtist - he's mostly composing these days)
screenshot of 12 bricks stacked in a square, 6 on each side. They'll be used as an atlas in a geometry node setup for Blender
Still making (very slow) progress with the cobblestones, but I needed a quick break.
Painted some 2k bricks in Krita tonight, will be doing an elaborate node setup for them.
Drink water, y'all.

Essentially all of the combat encounters were against inanimate filth: dust motes, unfolded laundry, wrinkled blankets, and so forth. Deeper layers of the White Tower had harder encounters, and it was regular fighting and leveling as per game usual.
I do think it could be done visually and be fun
Been listening to all of Wheel of Time on audiobook (again - have both read & listened to all 14 multiple times before).
In early internet days, I used to play (and build for) a MUD called As the Wheel Weaves. Occasionally I think about making a graphic version of their novice chore fighting system

Progress update on my cobblestone road material
Geo scattering failed me here, or more likely I just suck too much at math for this particular problem, so having to arrange all these rocks by hand like a real stone mason.
Props to those who do this in real life.
screenshot of a cloudy sky, fully coded and rendered in Blender #b3d
End result of my procedural cloud experiments - quite happy with this, it looks lovely in full 3D as well, with full gradient effects visible.
Back to playing with stones, now that the sky is fixed.
blender screenshot of a rough skybox test using only texture and color nodes (no volumes, no hdri)
Figured out where the sky texture geo node tab was hiding... many hours of playing with procedural clouds.
