Always weird to see the dude every building at your liberal arts college is named after associated with trump
yes haha. i think it's pretty bad. the GH&D orgs are in the best spot, but animal welfare, meta + LT have an incredibly lopsided funding from what i've seen. part of the reason i'm v bullish on effective giving as a meta cause area.
Can't edit threads ugh. But re 2-3x, it's bc I find it very unlikely that the average EA supported charities are getting less than 30% on average of their total funding from EA.
It looks like $13M of OP funding was excluded in 2022:
This is for 2022 giving, source from the vox article: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
I don't think that it's an order of magnitude off. Maybe 2-3x as much.
Now I'm craving these. Good thing I'm going to Singapore soon haha
How big do you think the slice actually is? Id be surprised if it was more than 1%
My LinkedIn post got so much engagement, I think it's time to become a LinkedIn influencer.

"total US charitable donations in 2022 were $499 billion...even if all EA funding were in the US, it would amount to a whopping 0.18 percent of all giving"

It was way smoother than I expected re feeling like a real convo. AI voices are also creepily good ofc. I felt much more comfortable talking naturally, and being able to interrupt and clarify is also good.
I know I'm several months behind but I just used the gpt voice bot and it is WILD
What's wrong with Spotify?
Did you know? Black Friday is named in honor of Rebecca Black, who invented Friday in 2011.
There's a difference between funding something because it's impactful and because it's neglected
I feel like people use neglectedness as a proxy for impact too often.
Me trying to be a professional is replacing the "hey" with "hi"
I think I've fooled em
We just got a ton of analytics set up for our product and I gotta admit... Data is addictive
The night of, broadchurch s1, bletchley circle (+ more)
This is hilarious but also too painful to see more of lol
On priors i would expect repeat offenders to get more jail time because the judge etc would take their past criminal behavior into account. Is there a reason why that's not happening?
Alright. Im here! Is there a way to auto post things across both bluesky and Twitter?
