When I mention letting the characters decide how it goes and figure it out, I mean like how a director works with each actor to find their motives and have them play it out and see how it goes. Learned from rehearsals.

What studying different media can teach you as a writer:

- Books: Interiority, voice, pacing, language.
- Film/Theater: Blocking, gesture, subtext, visual tension.
- TV: Arcs and episodic structure.
- Video Games: Immersion, agency, pacing, and environmental storytelling.

This is also why one story takes me months-years to write.

Both of my exchange pieces got one today. They read like a student who’s trying to hit word count while making it completely obvious that they did not study the material. Just writing whatever gets them there.

Oof, that's a hard one. Because even anon-ing it would still cause you to get notifs, and orphaning it means you no longer have any control over it. Too bad you can't turn off notifs for specific fics (to my knowledge). Because then you wouldn't know people are looking at it unless you look.

I think putting them in a private unrevealed collection might be the best answer if you want to keep them up (assuming it's on AO3). Otherwise, everything will be perceived.

The second fic I ever posted was a Big Hero 6 one, over five years ago. I just got a kudos email for that earlier this month.

A Meeting, A Rediscovery EtherealWill Summary: In 1170, Jeralt meets an old friend, Lambert, while Byleth plays with Dee. In 1180, they meet again at Garreg Mach and learn something about each other.
