The Winter Paralympic Games are starting today in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The Iranian regime has destabilized an entire region through its proxies such as the Houthis, Hamas, or Hezbollah. Iran has contributed to Russia’s ability to continue its war of aggression against Ukraine. And Iran has brutally oppressed its own population. 1/3
This Iranian regime is a threat not only to Israel but also to other states and, not least, to Europe. I condemn in the strongest possible terms Iran’s attacks on all Gulf states. These attacks on uninvolved parties also endanger German nationals in the region. 2/3
In my conversations today, the foreign ministers of the region agreed: they advocate for a return to the negotiating table. Iran must finally understand that its nuclear program and its missile program must be halted. 3/3
