Well it’s been a long time in it’s coming. I started writing a book last year (but it sprang into multiple book ideas all of which are part written I hope to finish them all one day), Well with a little personal help and a push I finally got it onto Amazon!

Thanks Chris. I’ll be posting a few of my slides here over the next few weeks. Next Wednesday I’m doing my usual talk for a WI group in Nottingham. Then I’ve a Cub Scout badge for a local group. Volunteering excites me so I hope to continue as long as I can. 🔭🙏🏻

Tuesday in the Sherwood Planetarium I presented (two separate hone educator groups as it was sold out) about the effects of light pollution on animal welfare, plant cycles, environment, human health and energy. I’m a member of the IDA as well so promote responsible lighting as part of my talk.

Yesterday I had the lovely chance to present two separate sessions for our home education partners on the effects of Light Pollution. We simulated a bortle 6 sky in the planetarium and then magically removed the skyglow. That was certainly a WOW moment. #astro #educate #darkskies

I’d imagine we are almost at an ethical point now. We probably can, but should we? Big question, and a big discussion point I’d guess, does it go against the Planetary Protection Policies? (Well above my pay grade I’m afraid) 😎

We can and we should 100%. We just need to keep raising awareness and help educate on responsible lighting. 🙏🏻

So happy to read this update on the Nottinghamshire County Councils street lighting page “The new LEDs will be pre-set to dim down between the hours of 10pm and 7am unless there is a history of night-time accidents in the area.” Are councils finally starting to understand. #astro #lighpollution

I laid outside for a few hours last night, enjoying the cool air. Saw a few meteors and took a few images. The moon dominated the sky (making it a little too bright to do any deep sky object but it was still worth dragging the gear out to take a photo of her) 🔭🌝 #UKhot #astro

I’m not sure now if the Seestar rotates the image somehow. Something I will check next time I go out. I’ll take an image of the moon with Seestar and then one with my phone. I thought the Seestar uses two mirrors so I always thought it was orientated correctly.

I’m in North Nottinghamshire. It was taken with a Seestar S50.

60 seconds of today’s solar activity in hydrogen alpha. A huge prominence is lifting off the limb.

The skywatcher Heliofind mount is amazing in this configuration. Super simple to setup and zero issues tracking the sun. Great for outreach.
