Managed to catch up with the reviews and yeah, so much more positive that LOOP. So happy for the team and so happy for what it says about the current state of palaeo documentaries! Let's hope that Surviving Earth has just as good a reception (It's another documentary with our fingerprints).

Not watched it personally, but one of our team members was the resident consultant! Knowing from LOOP just how much effort and care was put in, I'm sure they've done their homework and have justification for everything. Knowing the reaction to LOOP however, I expect the dino-verse are up in arms?

Yeah, really pushed on this interview. Firstly because details are so important and I knew my questions could be answered, but secondly because I know @melanieduring.com really well and was going to give her an easy ride.

It's a totally fair point. The audience, especially new listeners, won't be aware of the dynamics of our friendship, so it might sound bad without that context. I hope we can assure you that there were no bad feelings & it's something I can be more mindful of in future. Thanks for speaking up!

That's not how any of it works! We're just there to validate whatever they came up with in the first place. Just find them the science that's conforms to their vision. Can't let this pesky academic pedantry get in the way of entertainment!
You should see what they try in the Paleozoic scenes...

Ep169: Grasslands Pt2

We continue our look at the evolution of grasslands with Prof. Caroline StrΓΆmberg. Once grass evolved why did it take millions of years for grasslands to become established? Why do timings differ on each continent?

Grasses cover 40% of the land on Earth, they support entire ecosystems & are staples in our diets. They're vital to our future, but how can we understand them evolutionarily when they rarely fossilise? Prof. Caroline StrΓΆmberg talks proxies!
