I feel a surreal mix of excited, flattered, and shocked to be selected by Style Weekly as one of their 2024 Top 40 Under 40. I could not have predicted this when I arrived in Richmond ten years ago but, as the article below says, “a lot can change in a decade.”

I think a few years ago, I would have thought even 5 minutes would be terrible. But I have grown so accustomed to the 2 minute intro at SCOTUS and come to appreciate its virtue. So I could see using a SCOTUS-style intro at the top of a CA5 en banc and then welcoming the court’s questions.
There will be more! I have one in the works right now that I am especially looking forward to. If anyone has suggestions or thoughts on the podcast, I would love to hear them. Hope you can listen and enjoy!

I was dead-set on being a lawyer in DC. Spent both summers there and accepted a BigLaw offer. But then I clerked in Richmond and realized it was where I should be. Absent that twist of fate, no way I would’ve had the path I’ve followed.
Although I am new to #appellatesky, I am a first gen mug-owning member of the appellate flock at the other place. I am glad to see so many familiar faces here.
