Anyway, the world is on fucking fire and I could rant for hours on all this tyrannical bullshit happening. But yeah. Some positive ruminations for now lol
Basically I was talking to someone about it today and it got me thinking and re-discovering all the good that came from that swerve off my plan.
Life is bonkers but sometimes really good shit comes from it.
So yeah my career went sideways and I was bitter about it for a looooong time. Especially with all the “blame millennials for everything” bs happening too.
But I’m grateful for that sideways swerve, even if I do wonder “what if” from time to time.
I’ve been doing that for 10 years now. I have a set of friends I couldn’t do without that I may not have met if I didn’t get into cosplay and go to cons. I may not have found a side passion that ticks all my creative boxes.
Idk what my life would’ve been but I can’t say I’m unhappy with it now
I rediscovered YGO. And in doing so, discovered @littlekuriboh.bsky.social. Found myself writing again. Found new friends who convinced me to try cosplaying.
I got a local job instead of one I had a long commute to get to. I got back into theater.
And then a friend told me about princess parties
I hadn’t gone job hunting because I didn’t think I needed to. So for the first time I had no job lined up, even a temp one, and a summer vacation with nothing to do.
My career would have been SO DIFFERENT if I’d gotten that job.
But here’s what happened instead.

I graduated college in 2009. Height of the crash after 2008. The company I’d been interning with (paid!) over the last 5 summers, that I basically had a guaranteed spot with… was not hiring even temps or interns.

Today was my 3rd ice skating class and I felt SO PROUD of myself today omg. I’m getting the hang of things and while I’m still starting off unsteady, I felt so much better by the end. Couldn’t stop grinning 😁
