"The original Stave Falls powerhouse was once British Columbia's largest hydroelectric power source, and is a National Historic Site of Canada."
A black & white photograph of a chrome greyhound hood ornament, with classic Ford logo beneath it. There is a hint of the cars grill showing, almost like a plinth for polished miniature sculpture.
I'm pretty sure I have a version of this shot from last year... or the year before. I smile every time I see this car, because I know I already pictures of this hood ornament but I don't care because it is so shiny.

I am fascinated by the surface cracks in some of these details from Bill Reid's masterpiece, at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC.... The Raven and the First Men. [MOA Collections Nb1.481]. By Bill Reid. 1980. Haida. Yellow cedar wood. 1.9 x 1.9 m. Located in the Bill Reid Rotunda.

Black and white photograph of a detail from the carving by Haida carver Bill Reid, titled The Raven and The First Men and it can be experienced at the Museum Of Anthropology at UBC. Details matter and here a hand reaches out of the shell opened by Raven, touching it's surface with the tips of its curled fingers. Natural lighting highlights the sculpting marks of teams final carving work. Light plays across the surface with strong dark shadows contrasting the sharp details.
Bill Reid's The Raven and The First Men. If you have never seen this work in person... I highly encourage a visit to the Museum Of Anthropology at UBC. Reopening soon!

A colour photo of a workshop light fixture, illuminated with cobwebs and rusty patina. The light glows a warm yellow and can be found at the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site in Richmond, BC's Steveston Village. It's free to visit and filled with interesting things to see. Worth a visit.

Visited the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site in Richmond, BC's Stevenson Village back in July. Worth a visit, this preserved shipyard is free and a treasure trove of industrial details from a not too distant past. @jeffkennedyphotography over on Instagram.
