Elizabeth Bowen died #otd in 1973, in University College Hospital, London, aged 73.

She is buried with her husband in St Colman's churchyard in Farahy, Co. Cork, close to the gates of her family seat, Bowen's Court.

I got this lovely book as a Christmas present this year.

I read @nualaoconnor.bsky.social's great introduction after re-reading the story, which for me was like an interesting post-match analysis, pointing to some themes I hadn't picked up on.

Highly recommended.
