I was so enamored by the sweeping lines, white walls, and clean blue solar glass of the Summit; they seemed the pinnacle of clean efficiency. It wasn't until I was old enough to know how much coerced labor goes into that appearance of cleanliness that I realized how dirty the city actually was.

@seddidiot.bsky.social Hi! I love your work and would like to talk about commissioning a character. It's from a solarpunk story and world I've been building for my kids. Is that something you would be interested in?

Eventually, I would want the character and community sheet to be webpages. It would be meant for in person, but the way you interact with the game itself would be an act of building community through technology.

I have a design in my head but an inspiration board is a good idea. I see the pages as being very natural and earth tone with leaves and vines as adornments. Then DM asides or play tips are in the ethereal blue of an AR overlay. I want to give the feeling of tech working in the natural world.

Anyway, the character sheet and the community sheets just require so much structure to be elegant and useful. I typed up their content, but they are 3 pages each and difficult to manage. I don't know where to start, but I can at least get a shape in place so you're not critiquing a google doc.

Thank you so much! I'm in no great hurry. I've built this world by telling stories to my kids with the hope it will help them to navigate the earth they are inheriting, but they still way too young for how complex this is as a game. Probably as a concept too...

@endlessformsart.bsky.social Hi, I saw you on Itch and love your work. You mentioned being open to collaboration? I'm working on a ttrpg that tells stories of people coming together to fix a scarred world. I'm very stuck on layout and design and would love any input you're willing to give.

Baking is rebellion. For the last two weeks, Daerk and I have been baking bread almost every day. More than we can eat. We take the loaves to the neighbors, introduce ourselves and explain we're outside most days. A lot of people think we're crazy, but a few have come to join us. #solarpunk #story

DAERK CAN BAKE. He used to bake for his wife but kind of gave it up when she passed. It was difficult to balance my desire to be respectful and my demand for carbs, but in the end the latter won out and I demanded bread. It was delicious yβall. #solarpunk #story

Daerkβs been coming out almost every day. His wife got sick a few years ago and passed soon after. He didnβt realize she was his whole community, and now he doesnβt know how to make friends. He was shocked when I said I was the same. To him, Iβm like a super networker. Weird. #solarpunk #story

New plan. I told Daerk that I need his help. He has a nice sunny spot on his lawn and I want to plant a groundhog garden there. He just needs to come out once a day to water it, and whatever grows the groundhogs can eat. Then he and I can split my garden. I hope thatβs enough. #solarpunk #story

I decided my community is more important than my awkwardness and banged on Daerk's door for 10 minutes. He finally came out but looked awful. I kind of panicked and told him the fence didn't work and that I need his help making a sacrificial garden. At least he's outside. #solarpunk #story

I built the fence but Daerk had stopped coming outside. I was getting worried about him. His car was there and I could see movement in the house, but he just didnβt come outside. I finally got the courage to knock on his door, but he still hasn't answered. Iβm not sure what to do. #solarpunk #story

Daerkβs pretty smart. He came up with a fence to protect from diggers. it's buried 8 inches underground then flares out in an L shape. When the VAGRANTS hit the fence and try to dig under it, they hit the fence again and give up. Genius! I can't wait to show it to him in action. #solarpunk #story

There's a marauder in our midst! A rodent with no respect for the sanctity of life! Last night, this RAPSACLLION decided to disregard any semblance of respect by digging UNDER MY FENCE to eat my sprouts. A few survived, I will carry on, but this aggression will not be forgotten. #solarpunk #story

I made a friend! Porch guy (Daerk) comes out every day at pretty much the same time, so now I do too. I weed and he talks. He works from home and doesn't get much interaction, so I'm happy to listen. It's not what I expected to grow from my garden, but I like it. #solarpunk #story

I decided my peas deserve better and ventured back outside. Porch Guy came out not long after and apologized for scaring me. He said he used to be a smoker. When he gave it up he missed being outside more than the smoke, so now he just stands. So he's not a weirdo. Or we both are? #solarpunk #story

Oh God, I'm the weird one! Porch guy saw me and Instead of a normal gardener staring at a weird guy staring into space, it became a normal guy being gawked at by a dirt covered savage.
I think my garden is finished as I can no longer go outside.

There's a guy who just stands on his back porch every day. I've been making a little rock for my garden and every afternoon he steps out and just stands there, doing nothing. Then, a few minutes later, he goes back in. It's weird. #solarpunk #story

I mean, of course it was, but I had never really thought about it - that peas were seeds. I had mythologized them, that the growers of the world had access to something I didn't, that they were special in some intangible way, but they weren't. They aren't.
In that way, CEOs are like peas.

I planted my peas today. I turned the soil and mixed it with dirt from the store, I put up a little fence and made a trellis out of some sticks from our back yard. I felt like a real farmer, ready to plant! I ripped open the packet of seeds and it was just a bunch of peas. #solarpunk #story

Gardening is the opposite of social media. I decided to do one thing: plant a few seeds. It took all day, and then I was just done, no dopamine, no feedback. It made me antsier, too. Iβm so wired to expect a reaction that getting nothing feels like failure. #solarpunk #story

A single plant. I wanted to grow beans, but it was too early in the year so I settled for peas. My goal was simple, to eat one pea I grew myself. If everything else failed, I told myself, that would be enough. And so I focused all my anxiety into the tip of a trowel and set to work.

That's when I decided to start a garden. A decision made easier by my privilege - the privilege of dirt. My parents had a home in the Commuters and a corner of the lot caught the sun almost all day. What I did not have, however, was any sort of gardening experience. So I decided to start small.

My anxiety started when our Capital elected a new board. Everything was changing, everything was uncertain, and I realized how far away I was from the mechanisms of my own survival. The food I get, the people I interact with, space I inhabit could all simply be turned off. #solarpunk #story

Then, each of us will take a seed from our own pockets and push them into the ground. Most will freeze, or be eaten, or just not take. But all will be planted, and any that do bear fruit will be celebrated by all. This is our tradition.

"It doesn't matter if this grows or dies, that's not the point. The point is in the planting. A seed on a shelf cannot grow. Only when it's buried in the dirt of the world, exposed to the elements, to the things that bring it life or death, can a seed become anything at all."
