it feels like the loudest voices are the most bellicose in part bc any kind of organized left here has been vigorously dismantled, people charged with terrorism defences for supporting palestine etc. it's not great but feels like the public mood is more shocked, helpless + withdrawn
i think even in the govt there's a reluctance to be pulled too much into this stuff without notice, even for petty rather than humanitarian reasons - but labour have already been trying both to increase the army budget and get palantir involved w/ the NHS, so can't complain TOO much
yeah, starmer's govt is incredibly unpopular here and the papers seem uniformly out of touch too - so it's hard to say how indicative any of this stuff is with people's attitudes as a whole. it'd be nice to think not much based on the recent greens win but i've been burned assuming that before!
