Field full of orange California Poppies.
Carrizo plains, CA (3/9/2026). The Hillside Daisies are everywhere but there are also hills of other flowers such as California Poppies. You might have to drive and hike around some but always great to walk around a corner to a great surprise. #bloomscrolling, #wildflowers
Scarlett Milkvetch, a bright spot of color in the still winter landscape. #bloomscrolling #wildflower
The skeleton reminds me of the famous Archaeopteryx fossil. Is it meant to or am I just looking for something familiar?
Wow. How did you get such a sharp image. It’s fantastic!
Four small flowers with five white petals. The center of the flower is a deep burgundy. Around the outer edge of the petals are many purple dots with a line of yellow dots around the middle of the petals. The leaves are green, pointy and have spikes on them. Background is gravel
Lilac Sunbonnets in Panamint, CA (2/22/2026). These tiny little flowers love hot sandy or gravel lined places and are a joy to find. Find a few this year around Death Valley. #bloomscrolling #wildflowers
I love the setting! The frost on the insulators, how he blends into the pole. You are so lucky to have seen it :-)
For those flowers who didn’t get the nicest common names…(upper flower is Tickseed, lower is Bud Scale) I still think you are beautiful! A rose by any other name and all :-). #bloomscrolling
Yellowish white flowers with a purple center and purple dots on the petals growing on sand and pebbles. Pink monkey flowers peek from beneath the others.

Wow sunrise in a rose!

Two people brought the same dish and now everyone has to eat some of both.
What a cute pup. Happy holidays and thank you for sharing so many wonderful happy things here.
When my sister passed away, everyone wanted her cookie recipes, we had to try to piece them together with various clues. The true problem was she modified the recipes as she perfected them but didn't bother to write this down. And our memories of the taste is likely tangled up with memories of her.
First of the year here in San Jose, CA. They will be back :-)
Yes, I would like to know how these are cleaned up too!
It is mesmerizing. I ”saw” a large face at the top and that made me think faces and I saw more and more :-) wonder what I would see on a different day.
Northern Pygmy Owl at Confluence Park, La Verkin UT
We were so excited!

slime mold is just fascinating, one of those what is it really...
lovely, frost always makes flowers look so different and makes you appreciate how tough they are, even though they look so delicate.
that laugh is brotherly love all over 😆
Spotted Towhee bird. Black with white spots on its wings and back and a rufous belly. Red eye. Sitting on a blackberry bush.

wow, fantastic!
Interesting Honeypot ant builds this mound. Note the difference in size of some of the ants. They all hung around the rim of the hole and when something disturbed them (possibly a car in the distance) they all retreated into the dark, slowly coming back out soon after. #insects #ants
White evening primrose, pink desert verbena, yellow desert marigold
