So it’s so common I get the “oh, it seems like you’re doing so well!” from people who don’t see the aftermath, where I sleep for a day.
(Literally, Sunday I was at my grand aunt’s 90th birthday for a few hours. I woke up Monday feeling awful, and slept nearly all day.)

Fatigue is hard. And it’s sometimes hard to explain what it’s like, and that it’s not like more sleep helps the bone deep exhaustion.
Especially when people mostly see or talk to you in the pockets where you have a bit more energy, because that’s when you are able to interact with others.

I have been so relieved in the past that Firefly ended before any of the terrible planned plots that have leaked could happen. This definitely should not get a reboot or a continuation, let’s leave it in our minds as is.

Completed the #SSDI paperwork yesterday, but I keep thinking about the “what were you able to do before that you can’t do now?”

I have a PhD, I have an article in WIRED, I gave a keynote at a special workshop at AAAI.

Heck, even if Covid was gone (and it’s very much not), masks protect everyone from spreading multiple other illnesses as well. They may not be as mass disabling as Covid, but can still be debilitating for those vulnerable. (I’ll never stop being mad about lack of masks in hospitals)

Covid infections are asymptomatic half the time but can still leave you disabled long-term.

#SSDI Update:
Despite me doing the phone interview, I’ve received some TWENTY SIX pages of documents I have to fill out, asking pretty much exactly what I expected to answer in the interview. I have to fill them out and return them by the 6th.

Admittedly, I forgot to check my mail for awhile.

I’m glad that’s what you get. I wish that was true for me, but I really am seeing an increase (more in general/in society than here, for the record). Part of what I’m seeing is also an increase of antisemitic dog whistles.

“Antisemitism” is a term specifically about bigotry towards/hatred of Jews. It’s true that Palestinians are Semitic, but that’s actively a separate thing and not part of discussing antisemitism.

We really need progressives and leftists on this site and app who aren’t Black to be less excited about throwing Black people under the bus.

But I’m again seeing yet another increase in antisemitism.

I know I’ve said it many times before, but I really am working on my health. When I’m able I will return to being louder online, and continue using my social media and streaming as a platform for education, advocacy, and mutual aid.

Quick note: yes, I’m still very aware of everything going on in the world (or at least doing my best to stay aware).
As I’ve said in prior posts, chronic illness and pain have still left me with zero spoons.
So please don’t think that I don’t care, I really really do.

Chronic pain is disability. So to everybody out there in pain all the time, you're disabled. I know we keep our chronic pain to ourselves because no one wants to hear about it & do our best to manage. But if it affects your day to day functionality, you're a disabled person.

A reminder to my fellow chronic pain sufferers:

Pain is exhausting. Every single act takes more energy than it does for someone without pain. It can be even more exhausting having to face the reality that the pain isn’t going to go away. So it’s all about minimizing it and learning to manage.
