The giant pterosaur Hatzegopteryx is flying overhead, though its body is completely out of our view. What can be seen is the shadow it casts over the beach and the herd.

A mass of dinosaurs drawn in a simplified style fills the canvas. The dinosaurs are very roughly organized by how long ago they lived; the oldest dinosaurs sit towards the bottom of the piece, and the most recent towards the top. Eventually, the non-avian dinosaurs are cut off and the upper third of the piece is filled with avian dinosaurs/birds.
