I mean, he also said the HS Committee Chairman (Rand Paul) was a “freaking snake” and that he understood why “his neighbor did what he did” - aka beating Rand’s ass in his yard and breaking 6 of his ribs. For his part, Rand said that people should watch the hearing because it’ll be “interesting”

I've met this type of guy a lot and while there is some slight regional variation, the conversation you have with them (whether in SF, DC, or NYC, and whether they're in VC, PE, mgmt consulting, or politics) is always the same: they can parrot their bosses words, but don't have an original thought
Anytime the anti-USAID folks come out of the woodwork, I find it to be one of the clearer examples of the dunning kruger effect on Bluesky. There are a lot of confidently wrong people who think they know the real truth about USAID, while actually having no idea what they're talking about.
I have met this guy (not this exact one, but this kind of guy) so many times in life. He could have gone into VC, mgmt consulting, PE, politics/lobbying, etc. but he'd be the exact same dude. Articulate enough to repeat back what his boss says to him, but there's nothing there beneath the surface.

I have lived in New York (on and off) for 9 years, including several years in which I shopped semi-regularly at the Gowanus WF. I have never once considered shoplifting from there or elsewhere. That sounds like some "grew up rich" foolishness. We live in a society, people!

That account appears to have 10 followers on Twitter (and I'm not seeing any Rob or Robert Banks who works for Fox 5 in DC) so I'm guessing that isn't real

1000%. From my perch in the Biden WH, we did make a concerted effort to try and think outside the box on appointments (for instance my boss at USAID, who never thought she'd be an appointee and is one of the smartest people I've ever met), but there are a LOT of institutional obstacles endemic to DC
