Ah so sorry for the wrong pronunciation!
Ah so sorry for the wrong pronunciation!
Ilya and Tylor of the @kovray.bsky.social YouTube channel have done an amazing job on their how to play video for Rollβn Bump Duel! Their only mistake was in how to pronounce my last name π
For the curious, itβs closest to βdoze-wahβ
Great job, fellas!!

We're BACK: youtu.be/SpOAU7hQeXY
I've been sick for the last three weeks, which means we haven't been able to film or really play any games. However, my energy is mostly back so we had to share some of the games we've played in February and why we loved them!
AND... We're Doing March Madness (1/2)
If my voice could please come back, along with my energy, I would be very grateful. Being sick for nearly three weeks IS TOO LONG! Thank you.

It's quite unique and certainly won Tylor and I over.
Iβve got a terrible cough and feeling like poop, but at least Iβve never made an AI caricature of myself
Coming to Kickstarter in April: Unearth 10th Anniversary Edition! New graphic design, new content, and updated gameplay.
More information coming soon! Stay tuned β°οΈ
Today I want to share that Ryan Dancey and AEG have parted ways.
This is not an easy post to write. Ryan has been a significant part of AEGβs story, and I am personally grateful for the years of work, passion, and intensity he brought to the company. We have built a lot together.
A piece of paper showing a 4x4 grid mostly filled with drawings of buildings. Next to the grid are building names next to polyomino shapes with squares of different colors.
I make games because I love every step of the processβthe initial idea, the scrappy first prototype, the first playtest filled with glee and failure and hope.
Hereβs my scrappy first prototype of Tiny Towns. [1/6]
Aaannd we're live! Forage + Honeypot are on Kickstarter now - we would really appreciate your early support for these new small box games! Check out the page for all of the details - we're SO excited about these ones!!

Wow, this guy really hates people. I'd feel pretty crummy if I were one of the talented designers he was dumping on.
CONGRATS!
No one should be creating partnerships with HP at this point given the ways JK Rowling is spending her money to actively harm our trans friends.
Hopefully Avalon Hill, a game studio within Hasbro, will steer free of this nonsense. I'll reach out to them and put in my 2 cents.
Trust and integrity go a LONG way in how we view our relationships, and our values will continue to guide how we make content. (3/3)
When those numbers are used to influence publishers or audiences, real trust dissapears quickly, even if it "works" in the shorterm.
Unfortunately, this kind of metric inflation is more common than you'd think, including some of the bigger creators in the tabletop space. (2/3)
Purchasing views or subscribers is simply deceitful.
We will never do this.
Promoting your work is normal. Presenting paid or manufactured engagement as organic credibility is not. (1/2)
Today I emailed publishers about a concerning practice a board game media creator engaged in. This will likely become public, so I'm providing the details here to give the full context of what I shared.

We've never bought subscribers or views, and will never be doing that in the future. This tool is helpful in general to see if any suspicious activity does occur with the creators who's content you consume. Information is power.
A reminder that you can always look up a you tube channel on Social blade. If you are a publisher I recommend getting used to it.
Look for weird subscriber spikes, how many views each video gets. You can learn a lot about a channel this way.

Okay... What are our thoughts on ending the game halfway through if the table is not having a good experience? Have you done this? How do you approach this delicate situation?

Hi person problem π
I want to see designers avoid designing against "alpha-gaming." It limits creativity and innovation in what games could be.
At it's heart, alpha-gaming is a PERSON problem, not a game problem.
The best comparison I've heard is cheating. Not many games are designed to prevent cheating?
βUnbiasedβ board game reviews are the last ones to be trusted. Everyone has biases. Far more trustworthy are reviews that acknowledge their influence and bias. It indicates a level of awareness, honesty, and ability to contextualize that hints at more thoughtful and meaningful analysis and review.
Thanks to the folks out there in board games trying to lead the horses to water.
Grant grace. Believe people when they show you who they are. Hold accountable. These three things are not mutually exclusive nor should they be.
