I (a white woman in her 30s) am standing in a large warehouse smiling. Behind me is a large storage rack filled with white boxes, each box is roughly the size of me and the racks stretch to the ceiling and into the distance.
How many segments make a mirror?
Each white box contains a hexagonal segment which will make up the primary mirror for the @eso.org ELT. A total of 798 segments are required and each is *almost* as tall as me, this warehouse has the first ~200 that have been made. #astronomy

Mouseover text: Sure, this exoplanet we discovered may seem hostile to life, but our calculations suggest it’s actually in the accretion disc’s habitable zone.
