Very much relate to the longing for a particular place! On the bright side, that's Portland for me, and my moving back there this summer makes it exceedingly likely that I'll pop down to the bay area before the year is out.

James Ilgenfritz/Joe Morris/Stephen Haynes, The Caribbean, and Golden Feelings | Friday 3/20 at The P.I.T. | Brooklyn, NY 6:00 PM
Brooklyn/NYC pals: coming in to play a very cool gig on 3/20 at The P.I.T. (411 South 5th St in Williamsburg). Great lineup of which I'm honored to be part. Also my first NY gig in just shy of a decade?!
Modern tech support experience goes AI chatbot > preteen in developing world using Google Translate > transfer to ESL student > 20 min wait > dream about b*mb*ng data centers > no resolution. Thanks, corporate overlords, the only thing I disliked about 'Brazil' is that before, I wasn't living in it
It's been my privilege to collaborate with my old pal Legs McNeil on his forthcoming memoir, RESIDENT PUNK: How I Smoked, Drank, and Stumbled My Way Through the '70s Punk Scene (and Beyond). It's everything you hope it'll be and so much more. Much more soon, but preorder now from the usual suspects
Commenting to follow, daddy needs a new pair of everything
I know there are broad systemic reasons to say this that are more important, but for personal cathartic reasons: fuck Google, fuck AI, fuck data centers, fuck the internet.
At least it's not the DCU. It could always be worse!
*walks briskly into ocean*
Best potential appropriation of the "[it's] been in my pocket, so [it's] real warm and soft" from the Ferris Bueller credits
Listening to a talk show interview and just heard the phrase "well, it's a pleasure to have you" as "well, a fudge and a half to you".
I think I'm going to start using it.
Going to a movie theater and completely immersing yourself in the experience with others is important because it creates space for art to evoke empathy. It also selfishly provides a temporary relief from the cold realization that this entire stack of cards could come crumbling down at any moment. π₯°
Does anybody get 40 likes on Bluesky?
Out today on Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube Records!
Flier for double feature movie night at Ziggy's (206 W Michigan Ave in Ypsi) on Sunday, March 1, featuring 'I'm Not Fascinating The Movie' and 'Mary Jane's Not a Virgin Anymore'
Very excited about this double feature I planned a week from Sunday as a prelude to Season 7 of Independent Film Festival Ypsilanti (iFFY)! Two great, lo-tech classics from 1990s weirdo San Francisco. I'm moving away after the fest in April, so I'm hoping this season serves as my "grand exit".
Probably a tie for me between the tragically shitty John Hawkes vehicle 'Too Late' and the third X-Men movie
Despite my profound, visceral aversion to wearing red, blue, and green all in the same outfit, you simply can't deny that that's a look. If I had that shirt, I'd wear it every day (I almost bought a Bob James Taxi theme fan T-shirt awhile back, but they were out in my size).
Forgot this was on YouTube. Even though it was only a few years ago and it's still a real danger, something about revisiting home streaming from the (tail end of the) COVID era seems distant, voyeuristic, unseemly. Also, though, watching this is making me want to revisit parts of my approach here.
An old pal and college radio compatriot of mine edits some of those videos! Agreed that it's a pretty fun simulacrum of the real experience.
Going to the record store (or better yet, working at one) and talking to staff and other heads in person will always be a better way to learn about recorded music than being in front of a screen.
That marquee (and the sign for the State Theater down the street) are basically all that's left of cool downtown Ann Arbor in 2026. It's a bougie wasteland that I'd avoid like the plague if my partner's current job wasn't 200 feet from where Iggy is standing here
"Antifa" is a designated terrorist group btw
Thrilled to see Eddie Harris in the feed lately.
If youβre gettin up to speed or just missed it the first time around, enjoy this megamix of his freakiest cuts I put together for AD last summer.
(sorry, just got off work/this world is a damn nightmare)
*sniff* Hey, what's going on, did Democracy Die in Darkness in here?
I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.
Massive ratio (by this site's standards, anyway π) on this one. Abolish, you equivocating numb nut.
I no longer run a label, but someone else should do this so I can listen π§πΆ
Shouting this from the rooftops!
Apple & Google removed ICE tracking apps in their app stores.
TikTok reportedly suppressed videos criticizing ICE & the shooting of Alex Pretti.
Meta blocked Facebook groups tracking ICE & links to a database of agents that the government wants to keep secret.
Big Tech is enabling Trump's regime.
"Abolish ICE" is the only correct position but "make ICE pay for medical treatment at the children's concentration camp" might be a more effective compromise than "QR codes for kidnappers" considering 1 in 12 Americans are pissed off and depressed about their own crushing medical debt.
