Commemorative medals representing 75 years of Civil Defence were presented to volunteers by David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council. Special mention was given to Michael Kenny for his incredible 62 years of service to Civil Defence.
After 3 weeks of hard work culminating in a full days exercise including night searching, 24 volunteers completed their missing person search course. Thanks to the instructors from Monaghan Civil Defence who provided the training.

Volunteers spent 2 days over the weekend training as Flood First Responders. This intense course trains them how to safely operate around swiftly moving water during Civil Defence operations.

On Saturday, 20 volunteers from Louth Civil Defence joined over 300 of their colleagues in NUI Maynooth to celebrate 75 years of Civil Defence in Ireland. Commemorative medals were presented to all volunteers by Minister Thomas Byrne and Ms. Jaqui McCrum, secretary general of the Dept. of Defence.
Louth Civil Defence were in attendance last night to welcome home world heptathlon silver medallist Kate O'Connor to her hometown of Dundalk.
A busy Saturday supporting Pulse Triathlon Club with their annual Port Beach Triathlon. Well done to all involved.
Busy time for volunteers. A group attended the National Services Open Day in Drogheda showcasing our capabilities to the public. One of instructors also attended a workshop on the setting up and running of an evacuation centre.
Volunteers spent Saturday at the fire station putting our new portable pump through its paces. Huge thanks to SO Leyden from Louth County Fire Service for delivering the training.

Another successful All Ireland Poc Fada safely managed. 18 volunteers from Louth and Monaghan Civil Defence provided medical and rescue cover over a 7.5km course through the mountains in very challenging weather conditions.

Volunteers attended regional Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) training yesterday in Navan. This was hosted by Meath Civil Defence and delivered by Meath Fire Service. Several counties took part including Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Cavan & Donegal.

Another busy weekend for our volunteers. Medical coverage at a charity soccer match on Friday followed by the St. Patrick's Day festivities on Monday. Volunteers took part in the parade and then provided medical cover for the family fun day afterwards.
Our drone team along with boat crews from Meath Civil Defence assisted the Gardai with a missing person search over the weekend.
