Baby Girl waited in the shelter where I walk dogs for 450+ days. Everyone loved, but she was at least 10yrs old. Although 3 dogs is my limit, I finally said, 'C"Mon Baby Girl. Let's go home*. Two years later, she's living the life of love and comfort.

It took 800 miles of driving over two days, but we finally found California condors in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument this afternoon. They were about five miles off, soaring high above the cliffs, so I don't have photographs beyond proof-of-sighting, but I'm still high on the sighting.

This morning, I awakened early to sit and then suddenly, anguish arose in me. Others must feel the same. The Mideast is literally on fire. So much loss of life... the children, the elders... then there is the terrible loss of any sense of safety and the loss of trust.
Also ships might operate 24x7 at sea and we might serve four meals per day as a result. Even the Patrick O’Bryan novels talk about this.
As a former food service officer on a US Naval vessel, I can tell you that our cycle menus included some fancier menu items for holidays. The actual food budget per sailor can be higher as a morale booster on deployment and steak and lobster might be served for holidays while deployed.
