there is no point to this thread btw. i am rambling about my identity (or lack of one) because my feelings have always been complicated when trying to fit myself into any kind of "box".
maybe autism has something to do with it. like with social norms and stuff. i just think i should be allowed to exist without a label attached to me that feels arbitrary. it's why every attempt to label myself has, at some point, ended up not feeling right to me.
so like. if someone were to ask me about my gender identity, my answer would more or less be "don't know, don't care". i still only use he/she and specifically NOT they/them. and i like being either masc or fem but not androgynous. neither of those indicate the presence of gender for me
i think if i were born like a few centuries ago—and was fully native instead of ¾—i'd be recognized as a two spirit person (btw if anyone knows specific terms used by chickasaw or nahua people PLEASE let me know!!!) and filling the roles that they do.
I've been thinking lately. i don't think i even really HAVE a gender. what feels most affirming to me is adopting gender stereotypes for both men and women despite not being either. when i say that i am two-spirit, that itself isn't my gender identity, i use it as an umbrella term like nonbinary.
