Lately I've noticed a trend of people talking about "boots on the ground" military invasions in terms of "appetite," sometimes the president's, sometimes the American people's. Word choices often indicate a speaker's honest POV. Keep that in mind and remember that this is fucking disgusting.

Like: Does our country have the will to prevail? Do Americans have the will to achieve victory? If we don’t fight, we’re weak, decadent, and even treasonous.

Then, if everything goes south, it’s because of our moral failure not their bad decisions.

I worry about that, too. I cling to Hannah Arendt’s idea that we need a balance of labor (to survive by consumption, reproduction, laundry, etc.), work (to make lasting, artificial things that create our shared reality), and action (to participate, organize, & enact change in a public sphere).

I hate how we all have to pretend that words mean anything to these people. They don’t care what someone said or put on a website five minutes ago.
