Reaching net zero by 2050 β€˜cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits

Clear message from @thecccuk.bsky.social which anyone proposing that the answer to a fossil fuel crisis is somehow more fossil fuels should be able to understand.

For anyone interested in wildlife, if you don’t know some common bird calls, why not try to learn some? Start with some common birds - robin, great tit, blackbird etc., then add more over time. It’s very rewarding to know exactly what birds are around you without even needing to see one.

I don’t believe that any badgers were responsible for genocidal levels of famine in India, or the pointless Dardanelles campaign in WW1, where circa 250,000 people died on each side. Given the choice, I’d pick a badger, or any other wild animal, over Churchill any time.

The first step in the road to removal of all of our rights was Brexit. The next is the abolition of juries.

This is so important we must ALL do everything possible to prevent it, regardless of politics or anything else.

To think, Starmer used to be a #decent lawyer.

The Hinkley C UK nuclear reactor will produce 3.2GW, it will cost Β£50bn.

For that the UK could have built 40GW of Wind Turbines in 1/5th of the time.

Which would even on the least windy days of the year produce TWICE as much electricity.

Nuclear is an unnecessary RIPOFF.

As illegal international aggression once again highlights the need for investment in renewable energy, it is crucial the govt do everything possible to protect households from bearing the brunt of surging energy prices - and to ensure no energy company profits from this war.

Screeching 180 from Reform leader Farage who’s gone from Trumpian β€œBomb the Islamists” to β€œWe cannot get involved directly in another foreign war, we don’t have a Navy, we can’t even defend our own military base in Cyprus” overnight.

He’s seen the polling showing the public don’t support the war.

The World's largest Wind Turbine 26MW.

In its lifetime it will produce the same energy as burning 750,000 tons of coal.

That's 44,118 truck loads.

And that's just 1 Wind Turbine.

Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..

Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.

This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.

44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.

I’m livid with the mainstream press and their support of the US-Israel war -

It’s unrepresentative of UK citizens. It only represents the rich gung-ho Epstein class.

I’m more determined than ever to build the citizen journalism alternative.

Final decision on disputed price controls for 5 water companies An independent group of experts appointed by the CMA has decided how much revenue 5 water companies are allowed following their rejection of Ofwat’s decision.

Competition regulator allows additional 2% -4% increase in England water bills on appeal.

Regulators side with industry.

Companies to collect more money from captive customers, dump sewage in rivers, pay dividends, exorbitant exec pay.

Rip-off continues. Who protects people?

Think Streeting is even slightly left wing? 40 things you should know about Wes… Streeting is pro-privatisation, pro-Israel and his donors include hedge fund managers, big banks, private health investors and arms firms.

Did you know Wes Streeting is limiting the number of NHS training places for doctors, despite the chronic shortage of GPs and hospital doctors in the NHS?
He's a danger to the UK in so many ways.

Heating oil prices in the UK have trebled in a week. 2 million homes, no price cap protection, no warning.

Heat pumps + solar are multiple times more efficient, don’t require an oil tank and oil deliveries and are an insurance against such frightening price spikes.

This is the London Array, one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms.

It generates enough electricity to power 584,000 British homes.

Only clean, renewable energy can deliver true British energy sovereignty and free us from the ruinous influence of the fossil fuel industry.

Less than 1 in 10 pounds of bank lending going to productive investment New research from Positive Money finds that less than 1 in 10 pounds of bank lending is going to productive investment

Less than Β£1 in Β£10 of bank lending last year went to the real economy.

More than 85% went to speculative activities, leaving consumers and productive sectors with just 15%.

Banks aren't supporting the things we need. Looser regulations and lower taxes won't change that.

The U.S is the largest oil and gas producer in the world.

They overthrew the Venezuelan gov’t to exploit the world’s largest oil reserves.

Then they started a war, constraining Middle Eastern oil and gas supply.

Oil hits $100+ a barrel.

Who gains? America.

Follow the money.

How democratic is the UK? The UK has a crisis of democracy

Who voted for this?

Water companies dump sewage in rivers. Execs get bonuses for destructive practices. Shareholders got Β£85.2bn in dividends.

6.17m people in England await 7.29m hospital appointments. 300,000 a year die prematurely.

Policies made to appease corporations and super rich.
