So far so good anyway! Time will tell if the rest of the GNX goes together well, I remember the GTA being a good kit, but I didn't have the skills to do it justice at the time...

Nineteen pieces so far for this turbo V6 for the Buick GNX - I've built this engine twice, the last time I attempted this kit in about '91/92, and in the Firebird GTA kit by the same manufacturer. I don't remember so many parts, but I can't fault Monogram's ambition. They even FIT!
Haven't built a truck kit in a while - I really want to find the '72 GMC Stepside kit again - it's one of many kits I want a second chance with...
Thanks everyone for your comments on the '49 - I'm wasting no time in moving on to Build Four for '26 - the Revell/Monogram '87 Buick GNX. Purists, look away now - this won't be a stock build...
It is! The choice is roll hoop or half-cage, and after a bit of checking I realised the cage would indeed fit (though they make you use a piece of sprue for the top front bar) - so in it went.
Cool!
AMT '49 Ford complete! I'm really happy with how it turned out, just like 34 years ago, but better this time. Fitment and quality? Well, it's an AMT kit, so make of that what you will. Nevertheless, it looks exactly how I wanted it to...
A few little details left to finish on the'49 Ford, but nearly there. Fitment hasn't been amazing (yay AMT) but it definitely looks the part. This was the look I was going for, 34 years ago...
*gave
Might be the last mockup before completion for the '49 Ford
Back in '92, I have all the chrome parts a coat of clear orange for an 'anodised' effect. This time I'm keeping it silver and shiny. Wish they'd had the whitewalls in the '90s kit...
Wow! Better than I ever managed!
Well over the halfway point now - engine, chassis and interior finished.
I'm sorry - I couldn't resist...
CANNOT UNSEE.
I don't know, it seems like it would be an ecumenical matter to me...
You can't fool us. 1991 was ten years ago. TEN.
I've had more fun with this than I care to admit...
I'm sorry, but it appears that this matter has already been addressed in full...
Engine more than halfway done now - it REALLY doesn't fit together very well - and preliminary work done on the interior. I'm pleased with how the dash and wheel have turned out..
Ta! AMT might actually be the manufacturer I've dealt with the most, over the years.
Thanks - I don't know about talent, it's more about stubbornness with these kits!
It ain't my first rodeo pardner! If I can build that AMT '33 Willys Gasser from a couple of years ago, I'm sure I can persuade these parts to get SOMEWHERE close to one piece... ;)
Right - time to move on to the AMT '49 Ford. It's another tribute to a similar build from about 1992, but let's see if I can do it better this time (bloody hope so).
I'm trying not to see this, I really am...
"...DRIVE!"
Over the line (mostly) without mishap - it's the 599GTO! This is an excellent kit, but with one Achilles Heel. Revell cheaped out on the suspension detail, and it's such a shame. What they supplied is inaccurate and toylike. If that had been better, I'd have a new top dog here, but hey...
Damn your eyes sir - I've been giggling at that for fully five minutes now...
Nice! That's the second time that kit has been stripped since I first bought it! Can't wait to see what you do with it...
Final lap ahoy for the 599GTO. Should be done this weekend.
Love it!
