My almost-seven-year-old just “happy new year everyone, and happy birthday month to us, mama.” He’s a little more excited about his birthday than I am.

• Vaccines don’t cause autism.
• COVID-19 vaccines aren’t killing kids.
• COVID-19 *is* the leading infectious cause of death in children.
The CDC & FDA have been taken over by wellness grifters.
Posting lies as “truth” doesn’t make them true—it makes them propaganda.
We need to be able to see that the line "accommodations have gone too far" is an expression of the ableist notion that disabled students do not belong in higher ed. Its fundamentally an anxiety about the fact that disabled students get an "advantage" over abled students.

After elven days at home, I am going to really miss this view tomorrow. Middle schoolers just don’t have the same relaxing vibe.
Me, too—it sucks. I’ve had psoriatic arthritis since I was 14. I’m in my late 40s now. I have good meds that keep it semi-manageable most of the time, but some days are still really bad. Today, I can’t even make a fist. 😭

It’s World Arthritis Day, so it’s only appropriate I woke up in a flare, right? (This storm battering the NE coast of the US has been brutal for my joints.)

Censorship is so 1984. Supporting Libraries is so 2025. Read for your rights. Give for our libraries. American Library Association logo
The right to read belongs to all of us, but rights only survive when we defend them. ALA is standing with library workers, parents, and readers to push back against censorship. You can donate to support our work at ilovelibraries.org/1984.
Censorship is so 1984, but supporting libraries is so 2025.
Today starts Banned Books Week, and a new report from @penamerica.bsky.social is blunt about the current wave of book bans in the United States: “Never before has access to so many stories been stolen from so many children.” #BookSky mombian.com/2025/10/05/b...
This is amazing.
I don’t want to hear anything else about what we should or shouldn’t be putting in our bodies (Tylenol, artificial sweeteners, sugar, or fat) until something is done about the BULLETS being put into bodies
I change my wallpaper with the seasons, sometimes a few time per season. I don’t change ring tones anymore since I am typically on silent, but I still have a few people with their own ring tones because I haven’t changed them in so long.
meanwhile costco was all “DEI is good and we’re keeping it, fuck you” and they’re now basically printing money
Opened Instagram this morning, and all the people they recommend I follow are way off base. RFK and a whole bunch of right-wingers.
On what planet does a disabled, autistic, immunocompromised woman want to follow RFK (or any of the rest of them)? Nope. I think I’ll hang out here from now on.
As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.
They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.
This is well worth the read. The hypocrisy no longer surprises me, but it does terrify me.
Nothing like RFK Jr's nonsense to make you feel awkward. Over the years, I have come to appreciate and celebrate my autistic-ness, and it really sucks to continually see headlines that imply that being like you is devastating or the worst thing that can happen to someone.
I think I'm pretty cool
There is more people being diagnosed autistic because more research about autism is available, there is more tests available than before and still becoming more accessible, people are realizing they've been undiagnosed for years, etc.

This should be the lead story in all major national news outlets. Public health people prefer to stay out of the limelight unless there is no other choice. I can’t overstate how bad things have to be for 9 former CDC directors to band together and pen an op-ed in the NYT warning the entire country.
This has become the most viral thing I’ve ever put on the internet and I think that rules

My cousin just sent me this picture of me with four of my younger cousins when I was 21. This is the year I thought I was too heavy for a bikini. Proud to say I finally outgrew that self-hate and rocked my bikini when I took my son to the waterpark.
This!!
So did I!
They are both beautiful, and now I want to learn to knit!
“If you’re truly disabled why isn’t your family taking care of you?”
First, there’s no such thing as truly disabled or genuinely disabled.
Those are qualifiers designed to make you see disabled people are “fakers”.
Not worthy of your support. Not sick enough.
Republican senators tucked language into the tax bill that passed the Senate today that makes it easier for people to get gun silencers and certain types of guns.
The Senate rules ref previously said no, so Republicans just reworded the provision and it's in there.

Reading, writing, and mental health check ins!
May is Mental Health Awareness month. Take time between drafts and edits and favorite chapters to check on yourself, and remember mental healthcare is healthcare.
Let’s have Congress vote on it. I’d like to get some Republicans on record before the midterms.
